De Kermis
Amsterdam (Richard Ryall )
Its eight in the morning, but there’s still no sun, here in Amsterdam
The streets being cleaned, like there’s no tomorrow, here in Amsterdam
And around every corner, the signs give a warning, here in Amsterdam
As curtains slowly open, and the smoke is slowly swirling, here in Amsterdam
The trams driving passed, vibrating the glass,
Shaking all the windows, of the ladies in their masks
Marking time, till the end of the line
When breakfast cafes open, and they’re spilling all the wine
Men are sleeping, sleeping still
Oblivious to the dogs, that are looking for a fill
There’s a copper, he shakes his head
Wondering when the day, he will find somebody dead
Standing on the bridge that spreads the canal
Following the water with no rationale
Heavens at the end with a Gothic bent
And no-one knows how many men are spent
Skinny Lizzies waiting, her cigarettes complaing, here in Amsterdam
Johnny Legend with a stammer, contemplates the glamour, here in Amsterdam
They stare at someone’s sadness, they follow someone’s madness, here in Amsterdam
And Fruity Lucy’s crying, she’s trying and she’s trying, here in Amsterdam
Standing in the shadows, the world looks on
Twinkle in its eye, it is money that’s spun
Once again, the rain washes clean
The travellers shame, is the smell of nicotine
Brown water, covers all the streets
Canal boats sail, with mud upon their cleats
Last time, the lovers entwine
As daylight rises, the nighttimes in decline
Enter the bustle of enterprise, the trains are running early, but that’s no surprise
The organ grinders music is marking time,
The people passing slowly here in Amsterdam
The people passing slowly here in Amsterdam
The people passing slowly here in Amsterdam
The people passing slowly here in Amsterdam
The people passing slowly

Make Us Laugh (Richard Ryall )
The mask the mirror they seem as one The nervous sweat has just begun
And I can feel the night ahead A drink will help me to defend
Everybody says outrageous things Everybody’s got a heart to bring
Everybody’s bow has seven strings Waiting for the start
Will you guide me show me the way I love a crowd but I shall not stay
Feel the great adventure that never really comes
The tent is full of sadness that they feel out in the slums
And its my job to change the mood To earn their love and gratitude
Would you go and laugh if I did this
Or would you turn your head have me dismissed
Shall I bring you back from your precipice Lets all see
They’ve rung the bell head to the bar
Tomorrow a new repertoire I hope you find your lucky star
Alice (Richard Ryall )
Alice asks the questions to the wall
But the answers come from a mirror down the hall
In her house in Wolvenstraat she knows her songs are neatly wrapped
The stories speak her habitat
All through the night x 3
The fairground shines so brightly here in Amsterdam
The tents are pitched so closely to the sacred grounds
Alice has a friend who can hear the sound, eminating from beneath the ground
She shares the same feeling that Alice has found
All through the night x 3
Alice has plenty of time to fill her day
She’s always choosing doors to find her way
But nightime is so special and its here she likes to play
She feels a little stranger everyday
Feels a little sadder, sometimes a little madder, but she know she’s getting better everyday
Take her to a world of carnival and circus
Of gentle giants playing a fire breathing furnace
A man with top and tails is not considered surplus
She feels a little stranger everyday
Feels a little sadder, sometimes a little madder, but she know she’s getting better everyday
No-one Rides The Ghost Train Anymore(Richard Ryall Music, Lyrics by Cpt Skirmish )
The battered train takes up its name, as the ghosts come out to play
Old stories told of unfortunate souls, who will never again see the day
Young lovers went in and were trapped inside
And the rumours said they were sent to hell
All it took was a kiss and they would always stay missed
Look at it now and you could never tell
Chorus
No-one rides the ghost train anymore
Its been many moons since they boarded up the door
They say that every now and then
It wants to run like way back when
No-one rides the ghost train anymore
Picture the scene all the lights and attention, all the noises, excitement and fear
Spectres and monsters the darkness enclosed, and all of it coming from here
None were expecting and none of them knew
That the tender first kiss was the last
The car arrived empty the tickets unused
As the barker let out a laugh
Chorus
Vampires, werewolves and sinister demons, the kids had learnt to ignore
If you want to go faster put your hands in the air
And scream with delight if you want more
The old train had changed and it fell to repair
As the myths of the children grew wide
All that is left is a battered old train
And the smell of the devils sulphide.
Chorus
Come. Come, come for a ride, come for a ride inside
The Tunnel Of Love (Richard Ryall )
Every Saturday night , she goes to the fair
It was there she met him, he was dapper and prim, Cornelia
They spent all their time, in the tunnel of love
Where they would kiss, holding their hands, Cornelia
Then came the time, he had to go to war
It wasn’t something that he’d done before
And she wept, all by herself, Cornelia
Then one day a man came to say
Here’s some paper and then he went away
Which she read, it said he was dead, Cornelia
Every Saturday night, she still goes to the fair
To the tunnel of love, without him by her side
Cornelia Cornelia Cornelia Cornelia Cornelia
Tin Can Man (Richard Ryall )
Come along one and all and welcome to my stall
You will never never never know where the rubber ball will go
And if you win some cash you will dance tonight
And be dining with your partner beneath the starry sky
Chorus
I’m the tin can man I’m the tin can man
And I’ll take your money as fast as I can
I’m the tin can man I’m the tin can man
And I’ll let you win occasionally I hope you understand
You’ve always got a chance to walk away with your pockets full
But that will never happen as the bank is never ever poor
Just think of it as entertainment look me in the eye
You’re gonna lose a lot to make me satisfied
Chorus
I’m the tin can man I’m the tin can man
And I’ll take your money as fast as I can
I’m the tin can man I’m the tin can man
And I’ll let you win occasionally I hope you understand
Chorus
I’m the tin can man I’m the tin can man
And I’ll take your money as fast as I can
I’m the tin can man I’m the tin can man
And I’ll let you win occasionally I hope you understand
Tin Can Man Tin Can Man
Fortune Teller (Richard Ryall )
Sit me in a tent let the world walk by, It makes me feel at ease
The cards call out to those who know, to those who can’t be teased
And talking of your family, whose lives are absentees
I’m the fortune teller
There are fortunes told, there are tales of gold
There is love that has been sold
There is greed and lust, and of crimes unjust
And of rules to be uphold
I’ll tell you stories of your loves ones plight, in hope that you are pleased
The glass ball calls of all lost souls, I can help them be released
You’ll sleep the sleep of angels tonight, no more will you need to grieve
I’m the fortune teller
I can see great riches coming to you, it’ll be so unexpected
A job you want will not come true, you’ll feel your are rejected
But the spirits guide your waking life, they’ll see you resurrected
I’m the fortune teller
The Water In The Creek (Richard Ryall )
There’s a deep dark hole beneath me, its holds my buries soul
On top there is a boulder, and a coat that I had stole
No treasure can you speak of, no company it keeps
The dusty dirt is blowing hard, while the weeping willow weeps
Chorus:
And the water in the creek it flows, and I watch it everyday
It satisfies my loneliness, and keeps my thirst at bay
A long time it has taken me, to reach this road ahead
The burning sun shines over me, waiting till I’m dead
Defiance is a two way street, a road that’s left and right
And lord knows what I’m thinking about, while the dark turns into light
Chorus
Show me what I’m thinking, I want to see in my thoughts
An eraser is my friend now, disappearing what I’d caught
I look around and the day is gone, I’m older but I don’t care
If I get to sleep and see your face, I hope you don’t mind if I stare
Chorus:
And the water in the creek it flows, and I watch it everyday
It satisfies my loneliness, and keeps my thirst at bay
Find The Lady (Music Richard Ryall, Lyrics Capt Skirmish)
Down at the end of a short city lane, as the crepuscule creeps her way in
A siren is heard she is no Sybil Vane, all those years of absinth and gin
But she’ll beckon you down and you’re under her spell
There’s something about those green eyes, But listen up now to what I have to tell
Come closer, a word to the wise
For this ain’t what it seems, it’s a fraud it’s a sham, you know nothing in this world is free
These are fakers and rogues, it’s a front it’s a scam, so just open your eyes and you’ll see
Watch how a stooge from the crowd she will pick, and he’ll win the prize on his first go
On the turn of a card but she’s sharp and she’s quick, and it’s only a penny a throw
CHORUS:
‘Roll up, roll up’ she calls as she sings, ‘Roll up, roll up for the fair
A penny to play for there’s prizes to win, and nothing to lose if you dare’
nothing to lose if you dare, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing
nothing to lose if you dare’
Soon she has takers and all of them fools, from their money they’ll easily part
The trick is to know there’s a catch to the rules, so just walking away is a start
But men are drawn in like a moth to a flame, it’s a honey trap there’s no escape
Their sweethearts abandoned to sorrow and shame, as the con is about to take shape
CHORUS:
You’ll not find the lady, the lady is gone, no the lady was never around
You can check everywhere but the sideshow’s moved on
There’s no trace, there’s no sight, there’s no sound
You’ll not find the lady, she doesn’t exist, no the lady was all in your mind
A word to the wise, friend, just try to resist, for she’ll not be the lady you find
I’m Watching You (Richard Ryall )
Check the car and check the line, follow you until its time
Even in the darkest night, don’t turn left just make it right
You never see, behind that tree
In the shady den you go, where the glitterati flow
Could it be they see you at your worst
Take your time your first in line, these notes of gold I take are mine
I hear you when your words are not rehearsed
I’m watching you
A photo here I’ve got of you, standing drunk without a shoe
For you a dinner at the Ritz, and your friend with benefits
Its my job it pays the rent you see,
Its the only way to feed my family.
Not Needed Anymore (Richard Ryall )
Your skills are not needed anymore, there’s no-one here can hire them
Its not like the good old days at all, its gone the way of the Circusman
And this is how the world is now, we cannot change the truth
Our ages have caught up with us, there’s no more eterntal youth
The sky is gone its not needed anymore, we’ve left this world for everyone
We fly the solar system now, we’ll find another planet to over run
Our children may have stretched the road, they’ve gone so far away
Their unity has forced a change, and they share their passageway
Your skills are not needed anymore, there’s no-one here can hire them
RED
Follow Me (Richard Ryall )
Its only night, its only night, you know you need to worry
And then your plight, and then your plight, it won’t be hurried
Follow me, will you follow me, will you listen too, to what I say
You can’t lead, no you’ll never lead,
I will make you bleed, in the light of day
Two steps behind, always two steps behind, chasing my dream
Canonise me, I know you all despise me, I can’t be seen
Count them all, count them all, those ones that you have found
I doubt you all, I doubt you all have covered all the ground
Follow me, will you follow me, will you listen too, to what I say
You can’t lead, no you’ll never lead,
I will make you bleed, in the light of day
Two steps behind, always two steps behind, chasing my dream
Canonise me, I know you all despise me, I can’t be seen
A Fine Time For Me (Richard Ryall )
I sat on my porch chair, the sun in the sky
And walked there in front of me, an angel passed by
And she said I’ve been watching, and I see what you’ve done
Take hold of my blessing, for I have only one
She said I have come fishing, to fish what I see
Its been a fine time, a fine time for me
The dust on the floor timbers, settled down fast
While the dog looked forlorn, when the cat crossed its path
I took to the kitchen, to clear out the sink
But the storm hit the rooftop, and I barely could think
She said hold on son, you think you’re the one
But I’ve got my sights set, and the wait weighs a ton
My book isn’t full, and my pen still has ink
There’s a page in a corner, for your heart to stink
She said I have come fishing, to fish what I see
Its been a fine time, a fine time for me x 2
Its been a fine time, a fine time for me
Jimmy The Weazel (Richard Ryall )
All the children they know him, whats the story where can I begin
He’s toured all Englands county towns, forever
From circus show to circus show he goes, he’s dressed in his second hand clothes
He rarely sees the daylight, and the people
Jimmy know this is his finest hour, and for a quiet time he has the power
And all the crowd they become his equal, Jimmy the Weazel
At nightime he’s sent out to show, he’s the reason why people go
They spend their thruppence ha’penny for to stare
His history it does not exist, Jimmy’s hands are chained at the wrist
The public shout out dance, they insist
The crowd say his bodies a sin, he has a tail where it shouldn’t begin
But they don’t look past his outside, to his kindness
He takes this is life and he’s pleased, for food and lodging he’s occasionally teased
Its all a show and that is what he sees
In Jimmys world he’s the star of the circus show, and the bosses treat him right as they know
And the stage and lights at nightime are not evil, Jimmy the Weazel
Jimmy know this is his finest hour, and for a quiet time he has the power
And all the crowd they become his equal, Jimmy the Weazel
The Great Unknown (Richard Ryall )
How can it be I’m standing by the side of the road
With your photographs in my hands
Cars drive by heading eastwards tearing up the snow
I don’t know
You’ve changed time, you’ve bent my mind
Its cold inside my head
Take me to the place where you always wanted to be alone
Let me see that great unknown
You kept telling me of a life so rich and pure
you turn my heart into a stone
The wilderness you like to walk in, in your skins
I don’t know where the start begins, where’s the edge
Its a world I’m not comfortable being, I’m not seeing
The coloured lights that you allege, whats ahead
You’ve changed time, you’ve bent my mind
Its cold inside my head
The Day After Christmas Day (Richard Ryall )
What the hell was I thinking, Christmas Eve I started drinking
Eight O’clock I closed my eyes, and woke up in the same surprise
No-one noticed I was missing, my head inside it feels like bursting
Its the day after Christmas Day
Why did no-one wake me up, filled me with 10 coffee cups
Christmas telly I have missed, and the girls I did not kiss
Where’s my presents Santa brought, something from the Bottle Shop
Its the day after Christmas Day
All my friends, they try to say
Why not stay sober see Christmas Day
Every year I make the promise, Christmas Eve I leave the office
Heading home for holidays, pass the shops where people gaze
Its party time at Angelina’s, asleep to soon with the doge between us
Its the day after Christmas Day
I wish I wish I could do better, wear the special Christmas sweater
Enjoy a lovely festive dinner, pull a cracker be a winner
Next time I will try my hardest, people say I’m not the smartest
Its the day after Christmas Day
The Brass Harpies Gin (Richard Ryall )
I see them on the streets at night,
The three of them their stars shine bright
The Brass Harpies, they’re back in town
The lamplights they are glowing grand,
Relaxed and cool a Gin in hand
The Brass Harpies, they’re back in town
Chorus:
Gin Gin where does it begin, Oh hey there lord don’t make it a sin
Woah, they’ve brought the gin
Gin Gin give the bottle a spin,
Woah, we want some gin
Give them your time they’ll treat you just fine
There’s nothing they want in return
Your life will be splendid your honor defended
They’ve got lots of things you can learn
Chorus:
Gin Gin let us all sing, of nobleist ventures of Brass and Steam
Woah, they’re back in town
Gin Gin don’t go away,
Woah, they’re back in town
Gin Gin where does it begin, Oh hey there lord don’t make it a sin
Woah, they’ve brought the gin
Milly, Abs and Hepz are here, bringing on their sex appeal
Woah, they’re back in town
I Can’t Remember (Richard Ryall )
I hope one day you find the cause. I hope one day you do
We live inside these strange times its true
When its night and the moon is full, the streetlights flicker cold
I watch the passive crowd growing old
And I can’t remember, what I was told
And I can’t remember, when I lost my soul
And I can’t remember, dreams of futures past
And I can’t remember, that memories don’t last
Down the street a siren cries, a call to arms I hear
The people looked so mortified with fear
The sinners seek their punishment, but they don’t know whats wrong
I look around at everyone
And I can’t remember, what I was told
And I can’t remember, when I lost my soul
And I can’t remember, dreams of futures past
And I can’t remember, that memories don’t last
The Fall (Richard Ryall )
Standing tall, in a field of glass, spoke the question, I had to ask
Hidden signs, hidden stories, hidden people, hidden glories
Look around, hesitate, close it down, it cannot wait
Energy, appears to me, is this all, there is to see
Look at the sky, its unravelling, no love for the sun to bring, no-one at all
Fade to the distance, and stand alone, hear the telephone, and take the call
Here comes the fall X 3
All around, its a tragedy, a false calamity, a fake serenity
In the wind, a message sent, cross the continent, a peaceful compliment
Look at the sky, its unravelling, no love for the sun to bring, no-one at all
Fade to the distance, and stand alone, hear the telephone, and take the call
Here comes the fall X 3
Here comes the fall X 6
The Silence Of The Women (Richard Ryall )
There’s no need to question, the silence of the women
Its always been the same, since time had its beginning
All their subjugations, recorded in great books
When will times begin to change
Why is history the same
Its always written by the men
Candid conversations, spoken in the dark
As bombs and guns are carried, setting off some spark
Standing in the corner, the silence of the women
Turn their heads to watch the sky
The patterns in the clouds all make them cry
Say your last goodbye
Shout your accusations, your voices loud and bold
Everyone’s a story, a story to be told
All the secrets counted, they’re painted on the wall
No-one dead and drown-ded, got to be resolved
Shout your accusations, your voices loud and bold
Everyones a story, a story to be told
All the secrets counted, they’re painted on the wall
No-one dead and drown-ded, got to be resolved
There Were Times ( Richard Ryall )
Him in his castle, her in the suburbs
Him in the garage, her in the cupboards
Day after nightime, her dreams fly away
Expenses are paid, but not for today
But there were times that she made a mistake
There were times that it made her heart break
And many roads that she had to walk on
Always travelling till she found a home
Her ragged clothes her messed up hair
She carried the look of going no-where
And what she saw in a mirror before
Made her heart sad forever more
What sort of ruin, can cause all this
What sort of power, makes this world exist
Who made the connections, who pointed the arrows
She parades in the bright light, but sleeps in the shadows
But there were times that she made a mistake
There were times that it made her heart break
And many roads that she had to walk on
Always travelling till she found a home
Her ragged clothes her messed up hair
She carried the look of going no-where
And what she saw in a mirror before
Made her heart sad forever more
Never did she find, the thoughts in her mind
Never did she care, about the wreckage that she shared
Never was a story, that she had to sign, there’s no time
Stay on the straight road with the crooked line
Distance
Samuel The Inventor (Richard Ryall)
We enter our story in a dark grey workshop in France
The gaslight is glowing and shadows on the wall try to dance
Coming from the cold outside, Samuel dressed so dignified
His face is unsatisfied, he needs to think
The ideas in his head, all rush around and gets lost in his brain
He jots in his notebook, things that he yet cannot explain
He wonders if the world hates him, his actions lack fine discipline
So many places to begin, yeah
Light Bulb (Richard Ryall)
One night he was dreaming, one night he had an idea
One night he woke from his sleeping,
It seemed his thoughts were quite clear
Alright, here’s the light, this is right
Samuel shouted with delight
I’ll free you, I’ll heal you, you’ll sing my praises often
This is something new
He got the equipment he needed, laid out on the workshop bench
Tubes of wire his manic desire
And his sweat it all would depend
All the day, all the night, burning sweat
Could not stop him from his fight
Finally, skillfully, there in front of him
Time will bend now to his greed
A Time Deregulator (Richard Ryall)
I’ve built a time deregulator, tried to make the whole world better It will bring a wonderful new life,
Jump a minute to the past, fix the mess that you made last
All your problems will turn out right
Is this too much power, for one man to wield
Perhaps this invention, should be concealed
Before its made known, should I think again
For if its in the wrong hands, it could be the final end
Adjust the controls, and see how it would go
I could change the world, in a minute or so
And no human memory, would guess what occurred
For it is your safety, that’s the thing that’s assured
Goodbye Blue Sky (Richard Ryall)
I shouted my love, look what I’ve done
An invention have I, that is second to none
We shall be so rich, no troubles have we, blue sky
But fate plans cruel tricks, our days re-arranged
As both of our lives, are drastically changed
You let out a sigh, and I gave out a cry, blue sky
Goodbye blue, blue sky X 3
How dark was the day, when the sun went away
When you carried yourself, into the next day
I wanted to die, when you, faded away, blue sky
I Hear The Whispers (Richard Ryall)
I’ve changed many times, cancelled many crimes
I’ve twisted space, caused many paradigms
Each moment it is lost to the world, twists and turns and time is curled
I’m the only one who does recall, and I’m never gonna stop till I burn it all
Can you hear the troubles that are in my head
I’ve lost track of things that have been said
The road is gone and I’m misled
Hearing all the whispers of the innocent dead
What have I become, there’s nothing I can make undone
Nobody knows, stories I composed
I must destroy this damned machine, but the feeling of addiction is nice and clean
Living in a fantasy opiate dream, this can’t be right its too obscene
Can you hear the troubles that are in my head
I’ve lost track of things that have been said
The road is gone and I’m misled
Hearing all the whispers of the innocent dead
This is the end, I no longer have a friend
I’ll get far away, Take the train today
I’ll torch my workshop before I go,
Send the plans and the drawings to the earth below
Bathe in the brilliant afterglow, nothing will be left of the terrible show
A Most Unusual Chap ( Richard Ryall)
I watched him from across the road, his swagger it was sure
His eyes they darted everywhere, likes he’s never been here before
I noticed that his clothes were wrong, they mixed up all the styles
His lips moved fast as he sang a song, and walked for miles and miles
He went beep bop beep bop, beep beep beepity bop x 4
I took myself to follow him, intrigued by what I saw
He scuttled down an alleyway, and through a dark brown door
A bright red light was flickering, I waited for a while
And sure enough another man, entered the domicile
He went beep bop beep bop, beep beep beepity bop x 4
Amazed at all the things I saw, I followed them inside
I heard some crazy music, which I could not reconcile
And there upon a lighted stage, I spied his shiny face
A mechanical man, a mechanical band, with a microphone embraced
They went beep bop beep bop, beep beep beepity bop x 4
The music sort of thrilled me, I could not understand
The rhythm that encased me, from this mechanical band
I tapped my toes and swung my arms, I moved and jived real nice
A mechanical man is what I am, and I found my paradise
I went beep bop beep bop, beep beep beepity bop x 4
It was not long I found myself, singing to the tune
Danced right through the nightime, and to the afternoon
I met a friendly robot, she never asked my name
I felt free from all questions, and I played the singing game
I went beep bop beep bop, beep beep beepity bop x 4
Picnic On The Moon (Copyright Richard Ryall)
Now in our previous story, the land of hope and glory
We were brave souls who crossed the galaxy
It seemed so open ended, it was not as intended
Here is the rest of our insanity
Our rocket had crashed, the fuel was spent,
We ended on the moon as our intent
Provisions of scones, they were a boon
As we had our, picnic on the moon
The kettle boiled a dancing tune, and we drank all through the afternoon
Titanics parts were scattered all around
It took imagination, to gather information
For air upon the moon it had been found
Our rocket had crashed, the fuel was spent,
We ended on the moon as our intent
Provisions of scones, they were a boon
As we had our, picnic on the moon
So here we are we’re living on the moon
And up here there are no rainy afternoons
And we’re floating on this rock in outer space
With our heads held high and a modicum of grace
As we watch the world below us
On a planet that’s called Earth
And we dream about our London
The city of our birth
A Fantastic Adventure
We value what its worth
And we’ll never get to see you, for a long long time
And we’ll never get to see you, for a long long time
The Alchemists Apprentice (Richard Ryall)
The alchemist apprentice am I what potions and herbs do I try
The great books they all mystify I study till morning
The aim of our craft I’ve been told is to shape base lead into gold
The mixtures and tinctures unfold I want to be famous
The evening candles burn bright my masters lessons ignite
Don’t add too much anthracite the measurements taken
My training it makes me feel tired but alchemists we are admired
To work for the court is desired I want to be famous
My place in this world is assured my qualifications procured
My great work of study secured elixirs invented
Your life it has guarantees panaceas can cure all disease
With me you won’t be displeased I want to be famous
The Krakens Treasure (Richard Ryall)
The Krakens a beast and he preys on the journey of man
And men mark on maps of the places they don’t understand
Stories been told where the violence explodes
In a sailors graveyard where their treasure is stowed
And the ghosts of the fools, they’ll think that they’ll find
All manner of riches that ships leave behind
If I told you where in the world this treasure would be
Would you get a great ship and travel the wide ocean sea
Whatever I said would you take it as read
That you’ll meet your fate at the depths of the dead
When the Kraken awakes you can’t change your mistakes
And down you will go to the beasts holy gates
Many have tried and many will die
And the last thing you’ll see is the Krakens great eye
At The Steampunk Church ( Richard Ryall)
I’ve searched through the land of steam and cog for many many years
I’ve watched the great men come and go but nothing disappears
Oh Oh Oh whatever can we do
Oh Oh Oh with this old residue
I want to be an airman and search the skies but never be alone
Discover great stories and people of glories from the great unknown
Oh Oh Oh they always are out there
Oh Oh Oh running everywhere
Bring me a desk with some parchment and quill
The finest of ink and a ship thats still
Disseminate my writing in a book you can search
But leave my words at the Steampunk church
There’s nowhere through this fog that you can see
But take up your souls and come on with me
I’ll always be there not leave you in the lurch
But look at the words...... in the Steampunk church x 7 rpt
You’ve all followed me you heed my call you feel your backs against the wall
But now the great cog it rises high and shines its light down from the sky
Oh Oh Oh finally its your time
Oh Oh Oh whatevers yours is mine
Bring me a desk with some parchment and quill
The finest of ink and a ship thats still
Disseminate my writing in a book you can search
But leave my words at the Steampunk church
There’s nowhere through this fog that you can see
But take up your souls and come on with me
I’ll always be there not leave you in the lurch
But look at the words...... in the Steampunk church x 7 rpt
Hold my hand and feel the good,
Start a smile that you know you should
Put on these clothes to keep you warm
Stand with the people in your uniform
Use your voice shout to be heard
Things can change....... if you say the word
Copper, Brass & Steel & Tin (Richard Ryall)
Copper brass and steel and tin and the wiring within
Let it loose upon imagination
Then invention can begin in a workshop dark and grim
Don't forget to do the calibration
Free up your mind and you'll stay sane
Don't let your life become mundane
Be part of a world wide cabaret sign on the dotted line today
Copper brass and steel and tin and the wiring within
Let it loose upon imagination
Then invention can begin in a workshop dark and grim
Don't forget to do the calibration
Oooooooh living in this world has never been so good
Oooooooh the feeling of freedom to not be understood
Swing Towards Victory
Sitting At The Bottom Of The Sea (Richard Ryall)
In my lab I worked so hard
Daytime nightime I couldn't tell apart
Something always haunted me
What was at the bottom of the sea
The feeling was insatable
So I made myself an underwater dirigble
And on that fateful day in June
I took myself down to the dark dark gloom
When I was only partway down
My gauges said that I was going to drown
I couldn't see the sun I couldn't see the sky
And I didn't want to die
I fell so slow it seemed unreal
Surrounding me were monsters and giant eel
I documented what I could
If I couldn't reach the surface though It'll be no good
My candles they're running short
It won't be long till I'm just a thought
And I've got food that will last a day or two
And it will have to see me through
Well I guess I finally got my wish
Trapped inside this spherical airless dish
Its dark outside I cannot see
I'm sitting at the bottom of the sea
I'm sitting at the bottom of the sea
I'm sitting at the bottom of the sea
I'm sitting at the bottom of the sea
Dreaming And A Jiving (Richard Ryall)
She ain’t on time, it nearly blew my mind
Pacing on the pavement, living on a straight line
Woah
Is it something of a crime, holding up a man in his prime
And I was dreaming and a jiving, where could she be hiding
Dancing until midnight, she shouldn’t be leaving me alone
Hep hep I’m not a stone
She should be in my arms, let me protect you from the storms
Lets start jiving, dance divining,
The music’s climbing, you’re exciting me
Woah woah come and see,
We’ll swing to the beat, watch how happy we can be
And I was dreaming and a jiving, where could she be hiding
Dancing until midnight, she shouldn’t be leaving me alone
Hep hep I’m not a stone
She should be in my arms, let me protect you from the storms
She ain’t on time, it nearly blew my mind
Pacing on the pavement, living on a straight line
Woah
Is it something of a crime, holding up a man in his prime
And I was dreaming and a jiving, where could she be hiding
Dancing until midnight, she shouldn’t be leaving me alone
Hep hep I’m not a stone
She should be in my arms, let me protect you from the storms
Ooh my darling, ooh my honey
You should be dancing with me, I’ve given you all of my money
Take me to the top, never let this lovin ever stop
And I was dreaming and a jiving, where could she be hiding
Dancing until midnight, she shouldn’t be leaving me alone
Hep hep I’m not a stone
She should be in my arms, let me protect you from the storms
Back In 45 (Richard Ryall)
Living in the city, the world is out of line
Come back all your soldiers and show us a good time
We are so excited we’ll dance on in the night
Back in 45, back in 45
We’re missing all your kisses, we’re glad that you’ve survived
We wanna hold and hug you, and prove that your alive
You fought so strong and bravely to keep us satisfied
Back in 45, back in 45
We’re lined up at the harbour
To see your ships arrive
We feel the heat of summer
Back in 45
Shoobee doobee doobee doobee wah wah wah scat.
We’re In Trouble (Richard Ryall)
If you say that you’re in trouble, I’m in trouble too
If you say that you’re in trouble, then I’m in trouble too
I’m demanding, you’re expanding
Listen to the beat, see it on the street
If you say that you’re in trouble, I’m in trouble too
If you say that you’re in trouble, then I’m in trouble too
Over your shoulder, the nights get colder
Stay home out of sight, we will be alright
If you say that you’re in trouble, I’m in trouble too
If you say that you’re in trouble, then I’m in trouble too
The coppers hunt us, reward is sumptuous
Back roads are our friends, this is how it ends
If you say that you’re in trouble, I’m in trouble too
If you say that you’re in trouble, then I’m in trouble too
He Gives Me Diamonds(Richard Ryall)
I am a girl who looks nice in a sparkling rainbow
I dress to impress all the fella’s that I see around
They say I’m a flirt in a skirt but is that really me
But my man he loves me and shows me a night on the town
He gives me diamonds, he gives me diamonds
He gives me diamonds, and I am gonna shine
Wine me and dine me and tell me that you’ll be my lover
I’ll only expect all the best things that you can provide
And for your return I will give you my undying loving
For I’m an intense force of nature so will you survive
He gives me diamonds, he gives me diamonds
He gives me diamonds, and I am gonna shine
Give me love, and keep me high
Stand me tall, and touch the sky
I’ll be yours
He gives me diamonds, he gives me diamonds
He gives me diamonds, and I am gonna shine
He gives me diamonds, he gives me diamonds
He gives me diamonds, and I am gonna shine
My Train Is Coming home (Richard Ryall)
I may have seen a poor house, I may have lived inside
A bad view of my character may once have been implied
But I have made a bold choice, no man will keep me down
For my train is coming home
Chorus
Stare as much while its still free, let my body shine
I’ve moved up from the gutter, now it is my time
You think its just an ending, for me its just a sign
For my train is coming home
I have shown my patience, well I’ve been satisfied
When I am in the darkness, I shine a little light
If you try to doubt me, then just get into line
For my train is coming home
Chorus
Stare as much while its still free, let my body shine
I’ve moved up from the gutter, now it is my time
You think its just an ending, for me its just a sign
For my train is coming home
I am strong and ten feet tall, I know how to survive
Stand aside you little boys, for I have just arrived
Money in my pocket, business in my brain
For my train is coming home
Chorus
Stare as much while its still free, let my body shine
I’ve moved up from the gutter, now it is my time
You think its just an ending, for me its just a sign
For my train is coming home
I Love You More Each Day (Richard Ryall)
We walk the promanarde, it seems that life is hard
But I am always here to stay
I hope you understand, as I take hold your hand
I love you more each day
I like the way you smile, when you walk out in style
How special do I feel, when a kiss I try to steal
I love you more each day
If the world falls apart, please know that you have my heart
It would never fade away
The sun shines in the sky, but please don't wonder why
I love you more each day
I like the way you smile, when you walk out in style
How special do I feel, when a kiss I try to steal
I love you more each day, I love you more each day,
I love you more each day
All Night Long (Richard Ryall )
I look at you and I see your eyes just a worried man
Pour you a drink and say that I love you as much as I can
More than the world and the stars in the sky
Honey I do yeah honey I do
All night long
Let me love you all night long
All the things we can talk about
And we’ll share our tears in song
Hold my hand and I’ll understand
All night long oh yeah all night long
Its That Jazz Man (Richard Ryall)
Getting down to downtown, every single night
Staying for the smooth sounds until the morning light
That groove is in my dancing, that groove is in my heart
That groove is from the heavens, that makes my body start
Oh its that Jazz man, yeah that jazz man, time and time I lose control
Oh its that Jazz man, yeah that jazz man, gets inside inside my soul
Give me give me all that swing, give me give me all that swing
Give me give me all that swing oh yeah
It wraps itself around me, like a warm coat in the snow
Feel the tingle deep inside, as the trumpet starts to blow
That bass comes in and sits right down, it rattles all my bones
The drum beats out its rhythm, and my throat it starts to groan
Chorus
Give me give me all that swing, give me give me all that swing
Give me give me all that swing oh yeah
Give me give me all that swing, give me give me all that swing
Give me give me all that swing oh
Baggage (Richard Ryall)
You hunted all around until you found me
We spent a week at the pub getting totally wrecked
Then you took me out for a slap up chinese
Then went round to your flat to disconnect
I woke up in a messy stain my body it was sore
My brain had started yelling and shouted nevermore
You tried to turn the sun off it was too bright see
It was too late we shared our fate to the sounds of poetry
Everybody carries round their baggage
Everybody's lost and so afraid
Everybody carries round their baggage
Everybody's souls are there to save
In two short months we couldn't stop the fighting
Each night we'd go back home to an unwashed bed
But in the morning you were so inviting
So we had a drink carried on instead
There was no end we couldn't see, neither one was leaving
It wasn't about the fun no more, it was just us getting even
But as those old sad stories go it followed the narrow paths
Its been four years since we've been fine and shared a night of laughs
My Soldier Boy (Richard Ryall)
Dance with me upon the shiny sea
For you I do enjoy, my soldier boy
Hold me close and dance the lovers waltz
For they cannot destroy, my soldier boy
You meet the nicest people on the dancefloor
You meet the nicest people on the dancefloor
The tunnel of love, what lies within
Take your partner lets begin
You meet the nicest people on the dancefloor
My Oh My(Richard Ryall)
I was sad and lonely, and I was in despair
I took long walks on rainy nights, without a single care
The books I owned are ragged, I’d dog end every page
Tears spilt on the cover, the words I disengaged
But at the local Pally, I went to Saturday nights
I’d dance myself into his arms, under coloured lights
A single girl am I, but now’s my time to shine
I cut the rug with all the men, and win out every time
My oh my, in my imagination, well you’re my kind of guy
My oh my, my heart keeps beating faster, it never says goodbye, goodbye
I feel so warm and special, I never think of home
My escape and my delight, was something that I owned
The men they all adored me, they’d light my cigarette
They tease me with their dark blue eyes, I never will forget
My oh my, in my imagination, well you’re my kind of guy
My oh my, my heart keeps beating faster, it never says goodbye, goodbye
My oh my, in my imagination, well you’re my kind of guy
My oh my, my heart keeps beating faster, it never says goodbye, goodbye
But Sunday morning comes too soon, and I wake all alone
Inside my head I’m not in bed, but at the Hippodrome
My oh my, in my imagination, well you’re my kind of guy
My oh my, my heart keeps beating faster, it never says goodbye, goodbye
My oh my, in my imagination, well you’re my kind of guy
My oh my, my heart keeps beating faster, it never says goodbye,
My oh my, in my imagination, well you’re my kind of guy
My oh my, my heart keeps beating faster, it never says goodbye, goodbye
The Standing Cog
The Commerce Of Albion (Richard Ryall)
Up there in the fractured cloud,
The southern wind is rushing proud
People gazing in the sky
Children waving ships goodbye
A Golden Age, as far as the eye could see
Steam has come to save us all
With countries flags arrayed unfurled
Airship captains giving orders
Steering off to foreign borders
Thankfully, cargoes for a new country
Chorus
Saw heavens filled, with all the ships we build
Around the world, the magic of commerce twirled
With splendid sights, cargoes of delights
The parliament of men, let's make this empire begin
The vision that has seen the future
Bringing forth a wondrous creature
Science brings us altogether
From this land release the tether
We shall reign, we're masters of our domain
Let the band strike up a tune
Give the anthem lots of room
Let the planet be as one
The futures grand for all who come
Check the gauge, for steam is here to stay
Arthur (Richard Ryall)
September 1920 Arthur came to me
And asked me if I could see what he could see
I said I had poor vision and was totally unaware
He mentioned about the dead who were standing here
I sat up straight and turned my head
And looked around the room but could see no dead
But Arthur hushed in a spoken voice if I didn't believe then I had that choice
They are here
He told me of the books he was investigating
Since 1886 he had begun explaining
There's forces in this world that are quite unknown
Eliminate the probable and the truth is shown
I listened very carefully to this learned man
I could tell deep inside of his wondrous plan
He was serious to me and I want to believe, this detective man could not deceive
Hear me I don't believe in magic, your tales are truly tragic
I wish you weren't so bold
As Watson said to Sherlock don't force the facts to interlock
You cannot bend the truth to suit your soul
He seemed so disappointed and I heard myself say
That I did see something strange early on today
I thought I had imagined but perhaps I was wrong
I did see a figure that did not belong
He looked intently into my eye and I felt he could read in my mind
A smile on his lips and he saw my lie
And thanked me though for the caring try
Hear me I don't believe in magic, your tales are truly tragic
I wish you weren't so bold
As Watson said to Sherlock don't force the facts to interlock
You cannot bend the truth to suit your soul
On A Sunday Afternoon (Richard Ryall)
I you will, come on in, to the circus of Berlin
Be amazed at all the wonders inside
On the wire, in the air, there are people flying everywhere
Will you sit right down take off that frown
Watch the coloured lights shine all around
Enjoy your time this Sunday afternoon
There's jugglers there, and dancing bear
And magic tricks that will catch you unaware
Enjoy your time on this sunny Sunday afternoon
Enjoy your time on this sunny Sunday afternoon
There are clowns, to have a laugh, with pratfalls done on your behalf
And their bicycles exploding in a puff of smoke
Then the band, strikes a tune, with a solo on Bassoon
Will you sit right down take off that frown
Watch the coloured lights shine all around
Enjoy your time this Sunday afternoon
There's jugglers there, and dancing bear
And magic tricks that will catch you unaware
Enjoy your time on this sunny Sunday afternoon
Enjoy your time on this sunny Sunday afternoon
Leave your sad thoughts outside, enjoy your time with us
We are the greatest circus, there's laughter here or bust
Just let your mind be ours, we're someone you can trust
Just have this one day, and let that pressure rust
Will you sit right down take off that frown
Watch the coloured lights shine all around
Enjoy your time this Sunday afternoon
There's jugglers there, and dancing bear
And magic tricks that will catch you unaware
Enjoy your time on this sunny Sunday afternoon
Enjoy your time on this sunny Sunday afternoon
The Standing Cog (Richard Ryall)
Chorus
Lets all dance in the early twilight
Lets all dance until its midnight
All praise the standing cog
Anyone can hear its calling
Anyone can heed its warning
All praise the standing cog
Drink dance and lets make merry
Come on board be visionary
We're revolutionary help us make a change
Don't settle second best
Never feel you are repressed
This is the final quest your life can bee exchanged
The ancient cog we praise and worship
A greater life we are its servant
Brass and copper hue of verdant in this field of gold
The lore of nature understands it
All of time it is in transit
A peaceful world we will admit so the stories told
Celebrate each yuletide year
When mankind needs no longer fear
When love is in the atmosphere it has come to pass
If you try its possible
There isn’t any obstacle
No problem is insolvable nothings made of glass
The Keeper Of The Clock (Richard Ryall)
In the tower in the darkest place is where she always lives
Dressed in a coat tarred from creosote for the service that she gives
No more begging when the sun starts setting
Up she climbs her spirit dreading
Midnight bells a sound that rings so clear
She is the Keeper of the clock and her spirit never stops
300 years she's been around to make sure that clock is wound
But you'll never know her name and her ghost just stays the same
And the island it would stop but for the Keeper of the clock
You never see her and you never will but she is always there
She know all things about cogs and springs
That would make your head despair
But of course one things for certain as you sleep behind your curtain
Please be grateful for the things you cannot see
She is the Keeper of the clock and her spirit never stops
300 years she's been around to make sure that clock is wound
But you'll never know her name and her ghost just stays the same
And the island it would stop but for the Keeper of the clock
When the clock breaks down
Working hard she can be found
Darkness is her one playground
Her fingers are her living
Light of touch and no misgiving
Dirty work with no forgiving now
She is the Keeper of the clock and her spirit never stops
300 years she's been around to make sure that clock is wound
But you'll never know her name and her ghost just stays the same
And the island it would stop but for the Keeper of the clock
L U I (Loving Under The Influence) Richard Ryall
Well we strode across the desert sands and I held my woman by the hand.
We were doing it all alone
She looked at me and I looked at her, we fell deep in love, it caused quite a stir
It was something that had grown
The townsfolk there ran us both out of town, they didn’t want our kind hanging
around, there was nowhere else to go
So we walked and hitched and we hitched and walked and we went down south,
to the gulf of Mexico.
And I was loving under the influence, I was loving under the influence
You got me right from the start
And I was loving under the influence, I was loving under the influence
You took a piece of my heart
We hit Monterrey town just past sundown, we were dirty and tired
There was no-one else around there was nowhere we could stay
There were signs on display saying keep yourselves away
Your kind of people aren’t welcomed today there was nothing we could say
So we looked for the local park, and we hid there in the dark with love in our hearts
And I remember our first night of love, and what I said to you
That we’re never gonna part
So we’ll keep on moving for that is just our fate
Nowhere can we settle down and nowhere that we can wait
The world is there before us, and we’ll travel all our lives
Living by our memories and colourful disguise
And I was loving under the influence, I was loving under the influence
You got me right from the start
And I was loving under the influence, I was loving under the influence
You took a piece of my heart
We hit Monterrey town just past sundown, we were dirty and tired
There was no-one else around there was nowhere we could stay
The Spanish Flu (The Great Picnic)
(Richard Ryall Music, Karen J Carlisle Words)
On our way to South Australia, no parade and no regalia
Sign our life away for ages, we're promising we're not contagious
Faces covered with masks of gauze, quite the fashion au de jour
Can't take the risk don't share your germs
Its not negotable, thats the terms
Chorus:
Beware the Spanish Flu, the quaratine train for you
Beware the Spanish Flu X 2
Bath and breakfast thermometer drill, committee meetings for the few
Spray the tents put dustbins out, dinner , cricket with the crowd
Surrounded by the Spanish Flu, the Jubilee Oval is for you
Don't sneak outside climb over the fence
Cough cough cough then we're all dead
Chorus:
Beware the Spanish Flu, the quaratine train for you
Beware the Spanish Flu X 2
The ceremonial farewell
We get thrown back into the fires of hell
No familiar faces or familiar tents
Back to work , secure the rent
It's a nasty lonely world, devoid of comradeship
At the Oval beware the Spanish Flu
Bottle Of Rum (Richard Ryall)
I was a sailor since I was a boy,
Brought up on a pirate ship, shipmates ahoy
I went to the Indies and saw magic sights,
I drank in their barroom and had me some fights
A life on the sea had beckoned so fine
I plundered and robbed till the dark even time
Sure there were moments where my life could go
But the crew fought as one and as one we would blow
Then there were times that my bones they would ache
As age made me weary and less pain could take
And when grey hair took me, I made my mistake
And the crew then released me with their last undertake
The sea may be storming there's never the sun
Send me to the depths with a bottle of rum
So come all you sailors, I've now had my fun
Send me to the depths with a bottle of rum
Then there were times that my bones they would ache
As age made me weary and less pain could take
And when grey hair took me, I made my mistake
And the crew then released me with their last undertake
The sea may be storming there's never the sun
Send me to the depths with a bottle of rum
So come all you sailors, I've now had my fun
Send me to the depths with a bottle of rum
Send me to the depths with a bottle of rum
Send me to the depths with a bottle of rum
We Come As Friends (Richard Ryall)
Its been nine months since we've left home
Mars is on our doorstep, get them on the telephone
I need to make some contact, let them know we're from a world unknown
Hail there to you Martian people, we wish to bid you well
We've travelled far across the system, we bring fresh tea as well
We want to learn your culture, and not cause great offense
We've noticed your great cities, with our telephoto lens
We, we come as friends, we come as friends, we come as friends
We, we come as friends, we come as friends, we come as friends
I see that fear upon your face, we've not come to your planet to invade
We, we need another language, some way to communicate
Hail there to you Martian people, we wish to bid you well
We've travelled far across the system, we bring fresh tea as well
We want to learn your culture, and not cause great offense
We've noticed your great cities, with our telephoto lens
We, we come as friends, we come as friends, we come as friends
We, we come as friends, we come as friends, we come as friends
Scat
And all the time, that we were there,
we couldn't have known about the atmosphere
And slowly, from the beginning, inside our lungs, they were thinning
For the humblest of microbes, had very quickly bred
And if we stay on Mars, well soon we'd all be dead
We, we come as friends, we come as friends, we come as friends
We, we come as friends, we come as friends, we come as friends

Tie Him To The Mast (Richard Ryall)
When you are travelling on the cold hard sea
Mind who you share for your company
Words can be spoken in secrecy
But I am your Captain, there's no leniency
Pirates rules are the Pirates law
For centuries gone and for centuries before
And tough is our life, and the punishment is strong
Tie him to the mast, till his skin starts burning
Tie him to the mast, in a rage of cursing, tie him to the mast,
Tie him to the mast, till the crows start pecking
Tie him to the mast, till the crew stop retching, tie him to the mast,
Tie him to the mast
My ship may speak danger but its riches are complete
We all get our fair cut, if you steal you'll lose your feet
A hard day's pay for a hard days toil
Keeps the ship in order from a crew that's on the boil
Pirates rules are the Pirates law
For centuries gone and for centuries before
And tough is our life, and the punishment is strong
Tie him to the mast, till his skin starts burning
Tie him to the mast, in a rage of cursing, tie him to the mast,
Tie him to the mast, till the crows start pecking
Tie him to the mast, till the crew stop retching, tie him to the mast,
Tie him to the mast
We are a bunch of brigands, not one of you can be trusted
But if you cross my path, your life is interrupted
For I rule your world, and I will make you pay
Tie him to the mast, till his skin starts burning
Tie him to the mast, in a rage of cursing, tie him to the mast,
Tie him to the mast, till the crows start pecking
Tie him to the mast, till the crew stop retching, tie him to the mast,
Tie him to the mast
Tie him to the mast x 2
Row Away(Richard Ryall)
Row away (row away), row away (row away),
Row away (row away), row away ( Hey Hey Hey) X 2
Sitting in our longboat with waters calm and still
We're overboard with mouldy bread and plenty of time to kill
We did not see it coming, it caught us unaware
Six days have gone, since the song of the mutineers prayer
Row away (row away), row away (row away),
Row away (row away), row away ( Hey Hey Hey) X 2
The stars are on the horizon our course to navigate
The dreams of meat and rum are concerned to celebrate
Our thirst it is unquenchable with meagre water left
Eyeing of the barrel to stop any wanton theft
Row away (row away), row away (row away),
Row away (row away), row away ( Hey Hey Hey) X 2
The first mate shouted from the bow, its here you cannot stay
So dip those oars you ocean scum, you'll have to row away
And the bastards they have sailed off, while we float indiscreet
We started out as five, but us four we needed meat
It gave us ghostly energy, in our hearts well we were wronged
And our stomachs were not satisfied, more meat was what belonged
Row away (row away), row away (row away),
Row away (row away), row away ( Hey Hey Hey) X 2
So bend your backs and row me lads and take me to me home
I've had enough of floating on this god forsaken foam
Row away (row away), row away (row away),
Row away (row away), row away ( Hey Hey) X 2
Row away (row away), row away (row away),
Row away (row away), row away ( Hey Hey Hey) X 2
A Change Of Season
Needles Armed With Thread (Richard Ryall)
Inside your house they creep, to see if your asleep
Slowly move upstairs, see your body there
You have no place to run, you dream of pleasant sun
It is a constant ritual, disturbingly a vigil
Chorus:
Needles armed with thread
Guardians of the dead
The safety of the cover, does not seem to bother
When they're standing there, you are unaware
Listen to your breathing, the sound of sweetest pleasing
They plan to close your eyes, before the sun does rise
Chorus:
Needles armed with thread
Guardians of the dead
They will steal your soul
Sew you eyes to whole
Every nights a healing, inside your head's a feeling
Your sights a sacrifice, they take at any price
Off with them you'll travel, watch your life unravel
Taken to a place, where you can't escape
My Secret World (Richard Ryall )
There are fishes in the sea
And the're staring back at me
In the cold cold rain through the night
There are men up in the sky
And they seem to wonder why
In the cold cold rain through the night
Chorus:
Creatures creep until the morning
The weather bites the wind is calling
In my secret world
The lakes fill up are overflowing
The fires shout their final warning
In my secret world
Chorus:
The distant views they vary greatly
Trees stand tall and show off stately
In my secret world
The air is thick with perfumed flowers
Here I sit counting the hours
In my secret world
Opium Blues 2 (Richard Ryall)
Bring me to that opium
It takes me to the place that I belong
Its damp and dark and cold and its the place I sin
And its dark (dark) dark (dark) in that den
And its so dark (dark) dark there in that den
Sometimes a feast,sometimes a famine
Help me find that place,to catch the dragon
Let me hand you all my money, feed me cos I'm hungry
I've never been so lucky,in my life
Look out world I'm back in town
Take my life and flip it upside down
I see those circles form they go round and round
And its dark (dark) dark (dark) in that ground
And its dark (dark) dark deep in that ground
Sometimes a feast,sometimes a famine
Help me find that place,to catch the dragon
Let me hand you all my money, feed me cos I'm hungry
I've never been so lucky,in my life
Car (Richard Ryall)
I've saved all my money, and there you are
Bright and shiny yellow, my brand new motorcar
It goes at speed and it just flys, there's room for all to sit inside
All mod cons to keep my satisfied
Oh my love, we can have great holidays,
Will you come with me, what do you say
Every town a new adventure, oh my dear we'll look a splendor
No distance can be very far away
Chorus:
Jump in my car and come with me, as we drive across the country
Look at the view and the marvellous scenery
The wind in our hair there's no despair, as we can travel everywhere
I'm ok as long as your with me
We can go to the coast at anytime,
Paddle in the water if the sun does shine
Picnic in the countryside, or anywhere that you decide
Cakes and scone and then we'll sip fine wine
Elegance it is our virtue, your true love it won't desert you
Lets wave to our friends as we drive by, a hint of jealousy in their eye
I think our car is going to be a smash
One more wine and we'll be fine, the curve ahead we'll make in time
The steerings gone and we died in the crash
Stranger Than Strange Richard Ryall)
What makes everybody stand apart
People give us wisdom from the heart
Time to get the system rearranged
Cos people say we're stranger than strange
Why not take our value as we are
Standing on the bridge thats too far
Everybody wants us to change
Cos people say we're stranger than strange
Look how strong we stand we don't make so much demands
Can we ever really be forgiven
Don't close us in our rooms for we still can hear the tunes
Give us pen and paper so they can be written
And even in the darkest evenings
That sometimes can be in the day
We've never had a reason for misgivings
We love you more and more even when you're far away
Goodbye Golden Fields (Richard Ryall)
Goodbye golden fields and the kings that kneeled
Chorus:
In this sanctuary of strange time stands still and does not change
Turn towards the sun and be amazed walk the tallest ocean waves
Pleasant lands are gone centuries are to long
See our home in the fields quiet battlefields
My feet can feel the heartbeat of the ground
The growing of the forests on all the hills around
Wake Up World (Richard Ryall)
Wake up world, for your streets are torn, the sky is blue, and fully formed
I was born, in war years, when men rode horse, then disappeared
What was the point, of doing good, so we could be, misunderstood
I look at you, you grown up child, you're now in charge, your kids are wild
Chorus
And the world woke up, and clapped its hands, the sound was loud and wide
It lasted for, a week or more, and then went back inside
It was the spring, of 69, we saw our life, in a bottle of wine
The flowers bloomed, in the tall tall grass, and just like petals, it did not last
Chorus
Wake up world, your time is gone, you've had the chance, you've had your fun
I've never seen, so much hate before, you've emptied the tank, of the reservoir
Wake up world, for your streets are torn, the sky is blue, and fully formed
I was born, in war years, when men rode horse, then disappeared
The golden times, we're the best of times, but now my song, it has no rhymes
Take My Hand (Richard Ryall)
We travel across the Great Divide hunger and thirst are by our side
Keep The line is what I'm hearing one more step and one more clearing
Chorus:
Take my hand walk into the sun
Deep inside the dessert we have come
Strangers are as strangers do some are brown and some are blue
Eagles fly into the night voices hushed their eyes are bright
Keep on the run until we reach the sea
Look for your life in the heart of your family
The Fog (Richard Ryall)
Chorus:
Somethings coming, somethings coming
Somethings coming for me
Hear it breathing, hear it breathing
There's nothing I can see
I am not prepared, and I am running scared
In the night of countless cities, screams fill out the distance
Sirens blare and tastes the air, so urgent its insistence
Footsteps running close by me, like a terrible disease
A woman falls and cracks her head, a man hangs from the trees
A blade is thrown and clips my leg, a burning on my side
I cannot reach my home at all, for safety and to hide
A roar is bellowed and then it quits, the footsteps break the sound
And in the fog its standing there, a beast from underground
I wait for morning it never comes, someone took it away
It's always dark the town is stark, just like yesterday
The crunch of bones beneath my feet, thank god I cannot see
I'm glad this fog is thick and still, and all will so agree
When The Seasons Start To Change (Richard Ryall)
I received a call from the wind seeking out the flesh of my skin
Its dark when I turn on the lights my baby cries to me just to me
Chorus:
When the seasons start to change all my thoughts begin to rearrange
With the full embrace of your arms all your secrets melt into me
Has anybody seen
Welcome
Playing With The Crazies (Richard Ryall)
What’s this institution I’m surrounded by my friends
The days might seem the same but the playtime never ends
I get to wear my clothes real tight, they’re colourful and smart
I’ve painted everyone myself I like to call it art
Visitors come rarely but I guess that’s what they chose
I think I understand them so I can’t be one of those
It’s not as if I’m creepy and it’s not that I am rough
I have these little quirks with life I guess they’ve had enough
And I am here and I’m playing with the crazies
But I don’t seem to fit in well
And here I am and I’m playing with crazies
And no-one likes me I can tell
And all I wish for, will they take me home
And all I want is to be left alone
I don’t like being different and I don’t like being here
Sure I seem to struggle but that happens every year
Its not that it is new to me I’ve always been this young
And even though my playtimes here it sometimes it isn’t fun
And I am here and I’m playing with the crazies
But I don’t seem to fit in well
And here I am and I’m playing with crazies
And no-one likes me I can tell
And all I wish for, will they take me home
And all I want is to be left alone
And I am here and I’m playing with the crazies
But I don’t seem to fit in well
And here I am and I’m playing with crazies
And no-one likes me I can tell
And all I wish for, will they take me home
And all I want is to be left alone
Somewhere Near The Truth (Richard Ryall)
I live my life in alleyways, some to dark to see
It curled my toes and bent my bones in ways that would decieve
They cleaned the slums and took us bums and put us all inside
Confess they said to any crimes there's nowhere you can hide
So in the dock they placed me with a jury of my peers
The commoners in the gallery came along to jeer
The wooden walls imposed on us a feeling of contempt
While most us then new the score for when the noose we went
Here I sit, all alone, at last,
All those things I may have seen
All those things will be lost, will be lost inside my dream
Death was for the lucky ones for some of us would rot
We'd spend our lives in Newgate Gaol until we were forgot
The judge was heavy handed and he let me know my fate
He said that I was typical and lower than a snake
I shouted I was innocent but he just banged his gavel
He said I was a stain on earth and nothing more than trouble
No noose for me nor gaol indeed he said I was a failure
Upon the ship The Sirius I was shipped to South Australia
Here I sit, all alone, at last,
All those things I may have seen
All those things will be lost, will be lost inside my dream
Then the rain, on the roof, warms the pain
It is somewhere, it is somewhere near the truth
Somewhere somewhere near the truth
Old Grey Factory (Richard Ryall)
Take me down to the old grey factory
Make my bones into cog and spring
Take me down to the old grey factory
Then march along till church bells ring
Take me down to the old grey factory
My clothes are ragged and my skin is bruised
Take me down to the old grey factory
My body is gone and I'll be excused
Take me down to the old grey factory
My bodies gone but I'm free to roam
Take me down to the old grey factory
For I'll take a rest from my weary bone
Wooooo
Ships In (Richard Ryall)
I, love the sky,in an air-race,I should fly
Around the world, they came to try,
The length of England, they raced at night
Ships in, ships in, the night, the dark and stormy night
Ships in, ships in, the night, the dark and stormy night
Twenty tried, fifteen died, the crews were terrified, some won't be found
My airship, port engine down, Yorkshire Dales, we came to ground
Ships in, ships in, the night, the dark and stormy night
Ships in, ships in, the night, the dark and stormy night
Our darling wives, they were confused
How they cried, when they heard the news
Adventurers were we, we challenged the airship sea
And now, we're part of history
Ships in, ships in, the night, the dark and stormy night
Ships in, ships in, the night, the dark and stormy night
The Centre Of The Earth (Richard Ryall)
We built a machine to take us right down, to the centre of the earth deep underground
We don't know what's there or what will be found
We're cleaning the gauges and building up steam,
Our grand locomotive is reigning supreme
I hear those voices they stem from afar, others are cheering they follow the star
We go down, far underground journeying long feeling profound
A great bold adventure with danger abound we go down x 2
Two days have passed subterranean are we, out the port windows there's nothing to see
But a flash of bright lights and where could we be
A portal we passed and we let out a curse this isn't England a strange multi-universe
We've lost track of time while we try to get home do we turn right in this strange catacomb
We go down, far underground journeying long feeling profound
A great bold adventure with danger abound we go down x 2
We go down, far underground journeying long feeling profound
A great bold adventure with danger abound we go down x 4
Bitch That Pot (Richard Ryall)
Bitch that pot hey hey Bitch that pot hey hey
Bitch that pot hey hey hey,
Bitch that pot hey hey Bitch that pot hey hey
Bitch that pot hey hey hey,
I knew a man who sailed the sea
From the Ivory Coast to the Barbary
He knew a girl who sailed the sky
Her name was Mary and he caught her eye
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
Both got themselves together then
And they became more than good friends
Their heart and souls are joined you see
For their love of life and their love of tea
She always put the milk in last
For him she never had to ask
Rotate the pot three times he said
Drink it slow then come to bed
French Earl Grey and Buddhas Tears,
Keeps you from your nightly fears
Liquorice Legs loose leaf Tisane
Give it daily to your man
1884 (Richard Ryall)
On Regent Street , in a dark stoned fenced off house
The faceless come and go I see them everyday
Crazy, they called me crazy,
When I talk Of them, they say I'm paranoid
But there's an angel in the sky, and I start to wonder why
Then a voice cries out, we're watching you we are
Here's the thing, everybodys whispering
Room 101 they're sent, to the steam machine
Releasing you, from the body that imprisoned you
Help you see the truth, help you to conform
But there's an angel in the sky, and I start to wonder why
Then a voice cries out, we're watching you we are
I find the fog it is my friend, it helps me focus until the end
The Chelsea Embankment I can hide, the River Thames is on my side
I look quite normal when I walk, I tip my hat if I wish to talk
No finer gentleman than me, I'm plain to see
There's an angel in the sky, and I start to wonder why
Then a voice cries out, we're watching you we are
And I'm down here on the ground, a searchlight searches till I'm found
Then a voice cries out, we're watching you we are
Angel Angel woah watching you we are
The Ageing Robot Arsonist (Richard Ryall)
I was made to be a copy of yourselves
My skin created on a factory floor
But it went wrong and I remember burning furnaces
I came to love that fires roar
And when I felt warmth I was happy
It brought a nice glow to my eyes
And I knew that I'd outlive everybody
It came to me as no surprise
This is my robotic life, this is my robotic life
In 1861 in Tooley St and Cottons Wharf
I left my mark for all to see
The tallow flew and helped the River Thames to boil
The crowd all saw my victory
In Abney Park his body laid
The one brave soul who had been slayed
The Thames drained empty as I picked the low tide first
The fire engines died of thirst
This is my robotic life, this is my robotic life
I was the one who burnt down Crystal Palace
I was the one who fanned the flames
Mr Buckland could not see what I was doing
It was a radical time of change
And I sat down and stared for ages
Those lovely sparks against the stairs
And when those Penge boys had arrived they stood and cried
They closed their eyes and said their prayers
This is my robotic life, this is my robotic life
This is my robotic life, this is my robotic life
I am an ageing robot arsonist
Make A New World (Richard Ryall)
Be Bop Be Bop Budda hey, X3 Ahhhhhhh
Lets make a new world, we'll move into the skies
Gigantic floating cities, is where you'll run your lives
The views will be amazing, and each home will satisfy
Imagine that your workplace, is where the eagles fly
Be Bop Be Bop Budda hey, X3 Ahhhhhhh
A few old dollars, and I'll put you on the plan
Don't wait too long or they'll be gone, I know you'll understand
A small deposits needed, nine months it will begin
Think about your children, the futures here within
Be Bop Be Bop Budda hey, X3 Ahhhhhhh
Lets make a new world, you'll be above the crowd, that fresh air deep inside your lungs
A life magnificent, no ground imprisonment, you can taste it on your tongues
And every day's a glorious day, you'll watch them all below
The lower class, the poorer class, and people you won't know
Be Bop Be Bop Budda hey, X3 Ahhhhhhh
Yeah Yeah Yeah lets make a new world
The Curse Of The Bunbury Rum(Richard Ryall)
We're a crew that has seen worse, but we suffer from this curse
Our ghosts have been onboard for a hundred years or more
There's suffering and there's pain as we try and try again
Our bones they ache and cry and we pray that we could die
We are the stuff of stories for the living to be scared
We hide in darkened corners to catch you unaware
Our crew are all united beneath the darkened sun
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
The captains spirits broken the first mate tells the tale
The ocean bubbles slowly and we hear the kraken wail
He ignores us just like god has no earthly form are we
And there's nothing here for miles around upon this stagnant sea
We are the stuff of stories for the living to be scared
We hide in darkened corners to catch you unaware
Our crew are all united beneath the darkened sun
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
As years have passed with broken mast we sit eternally
No closer to the cherished land and our loving family
Our ghostly forms need nourishment from souls that pass us by
On their trip to Hades with the ferryman from the sky
We are the stuff of stories for the living to be scared
We hide in darkened corners to catch you unaware
Our crew are all united beneath the darkened sun
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
Suffering the curse of the Bunbury Rum
I Miss You (Richard Ryall)
A full moon glowing in the night and I won't see your face tonight
I miss you
I cannot close my eyes at all I hear you creep along the hall
I miss you
In the cobbled streets I know you stalk them all causing grave misfortune where you go
Its in your nature inside I know you're pure
You're forced to use your instincts you've no control
I stay at home and think of you I knew what I was getting into
I miss you
At other times we laugh and dance I do not fear our circumstance
I miss you
And when the rage that curses through your blood takes you far from me I'm all alone
I don't think of the death that you have caused I want your safe return to me at home
The things you do I know that they are wrong but I can't stop my heart from loving you
I dread the day if I should hear some news of a creature thats been killed in Waterloo
A full moon glowing in the night and I won't see your face tonight
I miss you
I cannot close my eyes at all I hear you creep along the hall
I miss you I miss you I miss you
Old Steampunks Never Die (Richard Ryall music, Steven C Davis words)
Its a special kind of world they live in
Full of wonder and excitement and things that could have been
Rusty wheels and springs keep turning
Brings them back around again to face
The things they always fear
No-one knows how long there is or when to say goodbye
Don't be sad lets all be joyous and raise your glasses to the sky
Old Steampunks never die they just keep flying airships in the sky
Old steampunks never die they just don't all salute the flags they fly
With tea and biscuits served
A sigh goes out and music plays and memories return
All the myths that they have carried
With medusian immortality they've just turned into stone
As the sands of time runs slowly never quite pouring out
The old clockpunks they wind down slowly
Three cheers we hear them shout
Old Steampunks never die they just keep flying airships in the sky
Old steampunks never die they just don't all salute the flags they fly
Steampunks they won't leave you there
Resting in their comfy chair a glass of gin or brandy in their hand
When goodbyes have been said and done
And the very last cabaret is gone the final bow is taken with the band
Oooooo
Old Steampunks never die they just keep flying airships in the sky
Old steampunks never die they just don't all salute the flags they fly
Old steampunks never die
A Very Small Theatre
A Broken World (Richard Ryall)
Old women sitting in the park on a summers day
Talking of revolution the industrial way
Remember the times when you were young
So don't talk to me of a broken world
The sun always shined and life seemed fine
So don't talk to me of a broken world
Looking at the innovations that we have chose
The workers in the country and the city wear the same old clothes
Life is so great in this caring state
So don't talk to me of a broken world
Your pessimistic cry, as a flag can't fly
So don't talk to me of a broken world
We all know that the government really loves us, we all know we're in their heart
And marching all together with our heads held high
Is where our long lives start
Oh where our long lives start
Life is so great in this caring state
So don't talk to me of a broken world
Your pessimistic cry, as a flag can't fly
So don't talk to me of a broken world
There's Something In The Wall ( Richard Ryall)
I hear the noise there's something in the wall
The terrifying screaming can be heard along the hall
And I've climbed the stairs in the roof it wasn't there
And I fell down on my knees and cried a desperate prayer
With midnight gone there's something in the walls
And I haven't slept for five days my name it always calls
And in all the rooms the light it won't appear
Like a Penny Dreadful pamphlet the ending isn't clear
All the doors stay locked cos there's something in the wall
Is this what fate befalls me is this what ends it all
And the ghosts stare on a pained look on their face
The rain breaks through the ceiling and I'm gone without a trace
Siren Song (Music Richard Ryall, Words Kylie Joy Morrison,)
Perched atop the cliffs they sit, awaiting wayward sailing ships
The smell of man is on the air, the stench of blood sweat and despair
They cast their voice upon the wind, their voice upon the wind
The Siren song all welcoming, its very welcoming
The sailors charmed all take the bait, and steer those ships towards their fate
The jagged rocks beneath the waves, are set like traps to catch their prey
Abandon ship the captain cries for we shall surely die
As Sirens sweep down from the skies before they realise
With talons sharp and teeth to match the sailors soon become their catch
As faces are each filled with dread the waters filled with shades of red
Into the darkest depths dragged down, lungs filled ocean as they drown
And there in the den of Davey Jones, the Sirens feast upon those bones
Now tales are told of maidens fair, told of maidens fair
Who sit on rocks and brush their hair senses still aware
With talons sharp and teeth to match the sailors soon become their catch
As faces are each filled with dread the waters filled with shades of red
With talons sharp and teeth to match the sailors soon become their catch
As faces are each filled with dread the waters filled with shades of red
But those who know the tales of old
Know tales where maidens feast on souls
Hammer Hall ( Richard Ryall)
Well they locked me up in Hammer Hall and threw away the key
A scoundrel and a bastard was what I was supposed to be
I lived outside of normal my own beliefs I had
I never hurted anyone though sometimes I wish I did
And its been ten long years and its been ten long years
And its been ten long years for me
And its been ten long years and its been ten long years
And its been ten long years for me
In Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall
They told me they could cure me with electricity they said
Its a startling new invention when they stuck it on my head
Well the pain was just enormous I could not speak for days
When finally it was over I never changed my ways
And its been ten long years and its been ten long years
And its been ten long years for me
And its been ten long years and its been ten long years
And its been ten long years for me
In Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall
They made me cower with each passing of the hour
But they could not change my heart
For when it comes to love you can't help thinking of
How can you ever set us apart
In Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall
In Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall, in Hammer Hall
The Murderers Waltz ( Richard Ryall)
Here in my living room, candles are flickering lights up your face in the gloom
Your terrified smile gives you breath for a while
I love the smell of your perfume
And the knives that I've got are quality made its only the best for you
And I'll take my time treat you just like fine wine
My methods are tested and true
And if I should catch you then its meant to be
Will you take this Murderers Waltz with me
And we can dance till the early light
For a gentleman always should be polite
I like that clicking noise as my knife hits your bones its just music to me
Tied to my table there eyes closed but full aware
The fruit of the poisonous tree
Do I do it for money, do I do it for love, no I just do it for blood
The rush that I get and the smell of my sweat helps me to bring on the flood
And when I have finished its safe to say
That I'll hide your body so far away
And I won't forget you I'll guarantee
For all of my bodies are special to me
I Walk The Righteous Road (Richard Ryall)
Been in a lot of trouble all of my life, always involved a gun and a knife
But now... I walk the righteous road, walking that righteous road
Maybe my life is full of regrets, but its nothing so bad that I can forget
But now... I walk the righteous road, walking that righteous road
A young mans shadow never grows old, it just stays close and does what its told
But now... I walk the righteous road, walking that righteous road
Live hard work hard live hard work everyday
Live hard work hard live hard work everyday
Send my soul to Satans pit, but I'm trying hard to escape from it
But now... I walk the righteous road, walking that righteous road
Live hard work hard live hard work everyday
Live hard work hard live hard work everyday
Live hard work hard, live hard work hard, live hard work hard
150 Years Ago (Richard Ryall)
Sure I like the world it looks, but all the things I've read in books
I feel I don't belong here at all
If I could build a time machine, with copper gauges gleaming clean
I'd throw the switch and take my curtain call
Chorus:
And why wasn't I born 150 years ago, why wasn't I born back then
If I could keep things in my head that I know now not then instead
Why can't I live back then
With all my knowledge I'd be king, the money in my life I'd bring
The most famous man in all of history
I'd cure all ills with magic pills, I'd pave the road with dollar bills
Amaze the world with my great legacy
And in the sky my planes would fly, and on the seas my ships
Electric lights in broad daylight at the touch of fingertips
We'd reach the stars and live on Mars, and ban all censorship
You'll all bow down and worship me benevolent leadership
Mr Moonlight ( Richard Ryall)
Mr Moonlight is my chemical man,
Gives me lots of things that I don't understand
Makes me happy helps me turn off the pain
Mr Moonlight has no need to explain
Mr Moonlight friends with all of London's society
Pills and potions inside his black bag untold variety
For you for me
He is well dressed he has impeccable taste
He's someone that the coppers would never give chase
His visits welcomed by the ladies of the house
He's got some brand new powder for their lovers and their spouse
If you're down and you're feeling troubled
Why don't you let him make a call
A Green Fairy he can always give you
A Vin Mariani the best of them all
Mr Moonlight is my chemical man,
Gives me lots of things that I don't understand
Makes me happy helps me turn off the pain
Mr Moonlight has no need to explain
Puppets ( Richard Ryall)
I look into those eyes when blinking, I can tell those thoughts you're thinking
Mesmer got it right believing, deep inside your soul I'm stealing
Listen to me listen closely, operate you quite remotely
Hear the gasps of loud amazement, you will be their entertainment
I can make you dance and sing, somersault do anything
Be my puppet with no string, you're tired so tired
On the stage you're my creation, feel the audience adoration
How is it done you're unaware, feel my power in the air
Ladies swoon and gentlemen clap, the Duke of Windsor tips his hat
You've never seen a show like mine, you swear to god I am divine
I can make you dance and sing, somersault do anything
Be my puppet with no string, you're tired so tired
I'm a stranger in your town, the talk of me just won't die down
The streets I walk they're not the same, a ghost of me, is what remains
Another place another theatre, open minds to see much clearer
Look inside the gentry, take the money be complimentary
Slowly change the world I see it, like their style but don't believe it
Give me spotlights every time, for this is the world and it is mine
My Old Man (Richard Ryall)
Those were the days, there was madness in his helicon ways
His father told him that it was here that he stays
But there has to be more to this life
Opens his book, page twenty and he has a good look
Full of ideas and some that he took
There were opportunities to breathe
My old man, travelled round the world in Nemo's caravan
My old man and I love him, yes I love him
Sure there were wars, but everyone of them was for a good cause
He tried so hard to never break any laws
And deep inside himself he knew that he was right
Broke many hearts, the ladies loved him but soon he departs
In the next town where it all would restart
The same circle goes round round round round
My old man, travelled round the world in Nemo's caravan
My old man and I love him, yes I love him
My old man, travelled round the world in Nemo's caravan
My old man and I love him, yes I love him
My old man, travelled round the world in Nemo's caravan
My old man and I love him, yes I love him
Metal Men (Richard Ryall)
Those metal men, they're coming after me
There's nothing in those metal eyes that I can see
No-one knows exactly where they're from
But I just want them gone
They flew the seven skies, they came across the sands
From Centralised Australia, to the Great Artesian lands
Those metal men they're going after you
Cold of skin, extended limbs and marching true
Now they're on the edge of Sydney Town
Our flintlocks they are useless they won't slow down
Pray to all your saints and to any God you know
Head straight to the harbour its the safest place to go
We've been forced back to Botany Bay
Those metal men keep coming our way
When the night comes down we can hear their sound
Of steelwork, clockwork, engines pound
And then the soldiers shouted at me
We must board the ships and set to sea
For metal will rust so they can't follow us
We head to New Zealand to be safe at last
We metal men can claim of course the land Australia we took by force
And now this country it is our reward it shall be something to see
We vision great buildings monuments galore
Great metal cities an end to the war
If humans return we shall lock the front door of that we can all guarantee
Those metal men, they're coming after me
There's nothing in those metal eyes that I can see
No-one knows exactly where they're from
But I just want them gone but I just want them gone
Gone gone gone gone gone gone gone gone
Gone gone gone gone
Left Foot Forward!
Across The Nullarbor(Richard Ryall)
In eighteen hundred and seventy eight, Mr Mole did contemplate
A trip across the vast estate, on his bicycle
Packed his bag and off he went, across the sandy continent
People laughed and people said, it was quite impossible
Mr Mole was not foolhardy, and soon he left the town Coolgardie
On his way to cross the Nullarbor
It wasn't hard to make a path, he followed the line of the telegraph
And he would be the first to cross the bor
No-one’s ever done it on a bicycle before
They waved him off with the National flag, with a very small kit and a waterbag
His Penny Farthing customised, nothing could compare
The sun burned down upon his skin, a thousand degrees was hitting him
He pedalled on did not give in, what the weather brought to bear
Mr Mole was not foolhardy, and soon he left the town Coolgardie
On his way to cross the Nullarbor
It wasn't hard to make a path, he followed the line of the telegraph
And he would be the first to cross the bor
No-one’s ever done it on a bicycle before
It only took thirty one days, to reach the city of Adelaide
His reputation he had made
Mr Mole was not foolhardy, and soon he left the town Coolgardie
On his way to cross the Nullarbor
It wasn't hard to make a path, he followed the line of the telegraph
And he would be the first to cross the bor
No-one’s ever done it on a bicycle before
Industrial Age (Richard Ryall)
When I was a young boy I saw a steam engine
So amazed at the power in its metal skin
And I swore one day I would command one
And show the world I was the transport king
Here and now and I've all grown up
Living off the efforts of an engine truck
The coalman shovels and I watch the pressure gauge
Cos I'm living the Industrial Age, (Industrial Age X 3)
Ahhhhh Ahhhh Ahhhhhh
Cos I'm living the Industrial Age, (Industrial Age X 3)
And those iron rails they took me through England
Along the coast and to the Copper Hills
Saw the pastures green but I was like lightning
Sped along till I reached the Textile Mills
Here and now and I've all grown up
Living off the efforts of an engine truck
The coalman shovels and I watch the pressure gauge
Cos I'm living the Industrial Age, (Industrial Age X 3)
Ahhhhh Ahhhh Ahhhhhh
Cos I'm living the Industrial Age, (Industrial Age X 3)
I feel the power deep in my heart
There's a pipe inside where the steaming starts
The train it is my counterpart
My life is like a railway cart
I feel the power deep in my heart
There's a pipe inside where the steaming starts
The train it is my counterpart
My life is like a railway cart

Come To The Stars Tonight (Richard Ryall)
Why do you want to live all by yourself
Be all alone on this Planet Earth
There are sights to see
Won’t you come to the stars with me
I’ve got the latest ship that money can buy
It does the intergalactic in seconds fly
It is your special flight
Come go through the stars tonight
If we leave together and make love in the night
We can crash on through the Cosmos and those meteorites
They are a sight to see
Won’t you come to the stars with me
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
Have you never been, to Jupiter
Or the planets in between
Don’t you want to know what’s out there
And see the things that I have seen x2
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
She Writes Books (Richard Ryall)
She writes books about a time
She has ink on her fingers a message in her heart
There's blood on the pillow from her brand new start
She writes books in a dream
With nothing but the gaslight to shine on the walls
She looks to the window and she hears the call
Bye bye bye bye bye she hears X 3
Bye
Old times, better times
Listens to the children with their nursery rhymes
Here comes the chopper to chop off your head
Gentlemen are well and good
She'd like to have one if she only could
But she can bide her time there's love in her books
Old Nic and Billy Bones ( Richard Ryall)
Have you seen the grown men try to run the government
Billy looks around and he laughs with glee
Old Nic just deals the cards he doesn't need to shuffle them
He knows what we'll be facing in the century
And can we live throughout these troubles, reading all the papers with expectancy
And I can never shake this feeling, it really does depend upon you and me
Don't go looking for Old Nic and Billy Bones
Theyre watching you
Don't go looking for Old Nic and Billy Bones
They're content and waiting, You know that they are waiting
You know that they are waiting underground
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
If you take advice then listen to the shadow men
You'll find them in their graves in Kentish Town
Things can change, if you're really one of them
But Old Nic and Billy, they lie back down
Its not to late don't ever think that, it can only be a problem if you let it so
For I have seen the future and its nice and peaceful, Old Nic and Billy Bones can
stay in hell
So just relax in uncertainty, have yourself a biscuit and a nice cup of tea
Wear your best slippers to the shops you'll agree
Cos living in this country is the best place to be
Living In A Clockwork Town(Richard Ryall)
When I was a young man, my Ma said to me
This is your life do whatever you please
Don't let your father dictate what you'll be
For he is an Airman and you should be free
Its been a long long time I've travelled in an Airship far from home
Its been a long long time I've travelled
Now I'm living, living in a Clockwork Town
Now I'm living, yeah in a Clockwork Town
Had my share of troubles that a young man could get
Stinking up bars and soaking up sweat
A life of an Airman is always in debt
Can't you see, this is not a life for me
I woke up one night when into my head
Was the words of wisdom that my old Ma said
Always treat the world with good things in mind
Don't leave all your bad sins to fester behind
Its been a long long time I've travelled in an Airship far from home
Its been a long long time I've travelled
Now I'm living, living in a Clockwork Town
Now I'm living, yeah in a Clockwork Town
It took me a long time for my mind to see
I left my old shipmates The Great 33
Would I survive there was no guarantee
Can't you see, this is not a life for me
Its been a long long time I've travelled in an Airship far from home
Its been a long long time I've travelled
Now I'm sober, sober in a Clockwork Town
Now I'm sober, yeah in a Clockwork Town
Now I'm sober, yeah in a Clockwork Town
The Last Kraken (Richard Ryall)
There he sleeps in the dark dark sea
The last of the Kraken alone is he
The sea floors scattered with old mens bones
The slumbering giant with Davey Jones
In the seven seas he is but one, and the Krakens reign is nearly done
For men with iron ships of war, have killed all Kraken that came before
From their mighty airships they looked down
To spy the shadow of Nero's crown
This is no life for him to know
The glorious king has been dethroned
With one last charge to the passing ships
He dies while fighting his apocalypse
In the seven seas he is but one, and the Krakens reign is nearly done
For men with iron ships of war, have killed all Kraken that came before
From their mighty airships they looked down
To spy the shadow of Nero's crown
There he slept in the dark dark sea
The last of the Kraken alone was he
Gone gone all the Kraken are gone x 10
Drink Drink Drink (Richard Ryall)
I live in the gutter its where I am from, right next door is the pub I call home
Its the place where I'm never alone, drink drink drink
Its been my teacher and its taught me a lot ,
From Denmark Street to sleazy Kings Cross
I've had most diseases but some I have not, drink drink drink
Its not a crime if I want to waste all my time
Well if I dilly dally right down that dark alley, I'll drink drink drink
If I treat you right you'll part with your hard earned delight
Two bottles I'll get to keep my lips wet, drink drink drink
You cannot ask me to change all my ways, I'm just like Mcbeth in that Scottish play
I like this street and I will not stray, drink drink drink
Its not a crime if I want to waste all my time
Well if I dilly dally right down that dark alley, I'll drink drink drink
If I treat you right you'll part with your hard earned delight
Two bottles I'll get to keep my lips wet, drink drink drink
Its not a crime if I want to waste all my time
Well if I dilly dally right down that dark alley, I'll drink drink drink
If I treat you right, you'll part with your hard earned delight
Two bottles I'll get to keep my lips wet, drink drink drink
drink drink drink, drink drink drink
Everyone around me says, I'll turn up dead at the foot of the stairs
Showing off me underwear, I drank drank drank
Audience Of One (Richard Ryall )
In an audience of one lightning flashes in the sun
And in the gravity of fireside depravity
Sits an audience of one
In an audience of one candles shining on someone
When flesh is willing people start their singing
In an audience of one
And in the gravity of fireside depravity
Sits an audience of one

Parallel Stories (Richard Ryall )
Imagine waking up tomorrow and all the musics disappeared
and in its place was lots of sorrow and old men smoke with scraggy beards
And tanks and guns and infantry patrolling all the streets of liberty
And in the sky an airship travels with the pilot half asleep he’s had two barrels
And you go to sleep you make other people weep
And you live past glories in parallel stories
Sometimes your dreams they can be fatal living in your house without a care
Swimming in the water if your able in the high street clothed in underwear
And nothing really seems to matter you’re as mad as a mad mad hatter
And the time says its quarter to seven you eat some ice cream to get to heaven
And you go to sleep you make other people weep
And you live past glories in parallel stories
And everybody looks so scared and some of the girls are losing hair
You think you’ve never been so happy you dream of politicians wearing nappies
And you go to sleep you make other people weep
And you live past glories in parallel stories
Watching You We Are
Cutpurse (Richard Ryall)
I walk the street people that I meet
I always tip me hat to the strangers that I seek
My face is bland they cannot understand
I've no distinguished features I am just another man
It makes me job so easy these skills that I have got
I reach into their pockets and I'll take the bleedin lot
The treasure that I find keeps me living for a time
Puts food upon me table now is that a bloody crime
Shame about my kleptomania thankyou dear old Queen Victoria
You made this city so appatizing don't you stand there cry y y ing
Ha ha ha Woah woah woah
I love the feel of money so I'll always have a go
Ha ha ha Woah woah woah
I love the feel of money so I'll always have a go
A ladys purse is very sweet
I open up the clasp and my work it is complete
The rich are rich the poor they're poor
Don't tell me bout the classes cos I've heard it all before
When I ply me trade I love the seranade
Of dodging all the coppers while I dance upon the stage
I'm nimble and I'm quick I'm built just like a stick
They can try their damdnest hardest but I won't live in the nick
Shame about my kleptomania thankyou dear old Queen Victoria
You made this city so appatizing don't you stand there cry y y ing
Ha ha ha Woah woah woah
I love the feel of money so I'll always have a go
Ha ha ha Woah woah woah
I love the feel of money so I'll always have a go
Cutpurse cutpurse I hear them crying
Shut your mouth son or you'll be dying
Don't be brave and try to stop me
This is my living in all its glory
Gentleman Jones The Barber (Richard Ryall)
Gentleman Jones he likes to wake up early
Gentleman Jones he gets his razors ready
Gentleman Jones he knows his hands are steady he's alright
Gentleman Jones his shop door bell is ringing
Gentleman Jones his tenor voice starts singing
Gentleman Jones his comb and scissors gleaming he's alright
Gentleman Jones eternal optimistic,
Goes of to work his lovely wife he kisses
Sweat he don't shirk, a day he never misses, oh oh
the glass is half full, thats how he always sees it,
he cuts peoples hair, his smile it never ceases
meticulous care, the customers he pleases, he's alright
Gentleman Jones they say he has a secret
Gentleman Jones deep inside he keeps it
Gentleman Jones he has a lust he feeds it, he's alright
Gentleman Jones eternal optimistic,
goes of to work his lovely wife he kisses
Sweat he don't shirk, a day he never misses, oh oh
the glass is half full, thats how he always sees it,
he cuts peoples hair, his smile it never ceases
meticulous care, the customers he pleases, he's alright
And in those darkened nights,
When the shop is closed he dimly turns the lights
When the world is oh so quiet
Stories are told but the people they don't buy it, he's alright

The First Female Airship Gunner (Richard Ryall)
She was the first to enlist of course
She stood at the front of the queue
Cut her hair short she was self taught
She’s a girl who has something to prove
They gave her a uniform it didn’t quite fit
Way to much space in the pant
Reasons were told it made her feel cold
Navy gunner was her circumstance
She’s the first female airship gunner
In a job full of angry young men
When the ship left the ground thats when she found
That she’d never be a woman again
Her and her crew were sent to the war
Took a picture before they had left
They stood proud and tall one one and all
Thats her in the gunners blue vest
In an armada made up of twenty nine craft
Off to battle they flew
In the belly of a giant her guns were defiant
She knew what her job had to do
She counted the hours till the fight was engaged
Saw the first ships burst into flame
Scared as she was her heart beat with force
But her mind wouldn’t ever remain
Soon the smoke cleared but no-one could say
If victory was made on which side
Some airships came home and the crew were alone
But something was missing inside
Aftermath (Richard Ryall)
In the morning in a stolen ship she comes flying through the clouds
Steam Powered Island down below bereft of any crowd
There's been fighting she could see and she sets her airship down
Smouldering fires whisps of smoke destruction all around
There in the distance is an open door Professor Worth is standing tall
His clothes were ragged and his skin was bruised
on the ground was a robot and the oil it oozed
He cried for help and she ran his way
She'd seen a lot of sadness from her battle days
He spoke of Pirates and of the fight
Evie knew that she was needed and would do whats right
Evie saw sweet Angeline she was missing vital parts
In her airship they could search for the cogs to fix her heart
So they set off in the sky leaving Ronnoc to guard behind
Let the ballast free the ship went north to the Isle of Wynd
Journey To Wynde (Richard Ryall)
Lets point our ship and face it to the north
The gauges set and marked we won't lose course
For our journey to the Wynde seems far away
with prevailing winds we'll get there in half a day
With precision touch our captain flies
To help our course before our shipmate dies
No rain and storm can slow us we won't take no surprise
Till our destination has been realised
We're on a journey a journey to Wynde X 4
Angeline is looking rather low
Her cogs and springs are turning very slow
The seagulls indicate we're not to far
We cut through clouds and wind just like a scar
And she has seen much better times
She sang me songs with the sweetest of rhymes
We loved and danced and drank fine wines
I miss those special times
We're on a journey a journey to Wynde X 4
RT 64 (Richard Ryall)
Living in a castle on the Isles of Wynde sending out ships to do her crimes
For her these are the best of times this is the life she leads
Wealth and treasure is her cause taken from some foreign shores
Pirates flag and pirates wars this is the life she needs
RT 64 the skies never seen such a pirate queen
She's killed many men ten score
RT 64 her mechanical heart sets her apart
She's someone you can't ignore, can't ignore
Her empire is so vast and wide her airships constant by her side
If she hunts you down you cannot hide this is the life she leads
In her captains chair she crushes those stand with her and fight her foes
She can't be beat I don't suppose this is the life she needs
RT 64 the skies never seen such a pirate queen
She's killed many men ten score
RT 64 her mechanical heart sets her apart
She's someone you can't ignore, can't ignore
Load up your air machine
Heat the coal and make some steam
Prime the cannons and beware
Let us see whats out there
RT 64 the skies never seen such a pirate queen
She's killed many men ten score
RT 64 her mechanical heart sets her apart
She's someone you can't ignore, can't ignore
Its Stanley I Presume (Richard Ryall)
And its Stanley I presume
He’s a traveller in time he’s not like me and you
When he wakes the day can be momentus but he’s got no control
Don’t know how the dice will roll
And everything is new
The past and the future they blur into his view
Has no friends, wonders where the journey ends
The things he’s seen he questions his own sanity
Ever since when he had made his machine
This universe appeared to him
Travelled time like he was on a train
Just a natures strange pilgrim
And time became his playground
There was nothing he could not see
Past and future they had bonded
In his own chronology
And its Stanley I presume
He’s a traveller in time he’s not like me and you
When he wakes the day can be momentus but he’s got no control
Don’t know how the dice will roll
And everything is new
The past and the future they blur into his view
Has no friends, wonders where the journey ends
The things he’s seen he questions his own sanity
Airships Starships he has seen them all
The rise of clockwork and of steam
Civilisations they always fall
No matter how big they make the machines
He can’t be involved though
He can only view
Reduced to just a watcher
Watching me and you
New Boots And Blood (Richard Ryall)
They pointed to the ground and they told me I should dig
Till I could not dig no more
They said this is your new home son
Better make it last for all the war
And this is where I lived through all the mud and filth
Do they know I still exist
I've not heard from anyone maybe I've been missed
And then the flares are fired in the air a red light shines around
A whistle blows in the distant holes and my head is filled with sound
They gave me new boots and blood
Thats what a soldier needs to fight for his country
New boots and blood
Running on the battlefield thinking of my family
When I ran a hundred feet they said it was complete
So I had to dig some more
I heard the same old story told how I should learn to love the war
My rifles not been fired since I came into this land
All my bullets are still quite clean
I've not seen any human being
Which makes my effort more obscene
And if there's anyone out there I want to know your name
And is your job just like mine and do we dig the holes the same
They gave me new boots and blood
Thats what a soldier needs to fight for his country
New boots and blood
Running on the battlefield thinking of my family
Rool Britannia ( Chap Hop) (Richard Ryall)
Lets all go down to the night of the proms/ we'll drink an ale and sing our song
O'Shaunessys ode is a gallant story/ we'll fashion us an empires glory
Never never never we hear you yell/ its 12 0'clock on the old ships bell
Victorian times it was the thing/ to stand and shout God Save The Queen
Rool Britannia
Britain rools it rools the waves, Britain rools it rools OK
Rool Britannia
There she stands with sword and shield there she stands she will not yield
Rooool Britannia
English classes and English knobs/ none of them have got real jobs
Whatever happened to this deep green land/ the common good and the common man
When wars are fought and wars are won/ we become the countries favourites son
Lets stand together let us unite/ for England rools and it rools alright
I say anyone for tiffen? For sure old chap
Cucumber sandwiches? Oh rather
Who'll make the tea? Oh I can old bean
Well can I be mother Certainly old chap
Land of hope and glory mother of the sea
Land of hope and glory mother of the sea
There'll always be an England and England shall be free
There'll always be an England lads and England shall be free
We did bad things you should complain atrocities in the English name
But us peasant folk we copped it to they trod us down with their leather shoe
But rise up rise up stop the hate lets all get off this dirty plate
Its not to hard if we stand together its raining now good English weather
Volle Kraft Voraus (Richard Ryall)
A Steamship no more finer than she, was Germanys treasure and its nominee
I know, I know
Could she steam around the world, win the race for all her countries soul
I know, I know
The flag was dropped and off to sea, was the SS Empire Energy
I know, I know
Four strong boilers with many hands, powerful props and two Brass bands
I know, I know
Volle Kraft Vorhaus
Thats what the Captain said
Volle Kraft Vorhaus
Full steam, full steam ahead.
Full steam, full steam ahead.
Mid Atlantic the French turned around, frightened that they would all drown
I know, I know
The Russians too they fared worse affected by Bermudas curse
I know, I know
Volle Kraft Vorhaus
Thats what the Captain said
Volle Kraft Vorhaus
Full steam, full steam ahead.
Full steam, full steam ahead.
When the hurricane formed not one brave crew member was warned
One hour later they were gone gone gone but their ghost ship it still goes on
In the middle of the night you can hear the Captains cry
We will win this race or die die die for we are Germans and must try
Volle Kraft Vorhaus
Thats what the Captain said
Volle Kraft Vorhaus
Full steam, full steam ahead.
Full steam, full steam ahead.
Grand Hotel
The Grand Guignol Hotel (Richard Ryall)
The strangest place I’ve ever seen is an old hotel
Rustic brown on the edge of town its well worn down
There’s only ever movement at night
And it shines with an Infrared light
And things walk like a spider might, so secretly
I went there once and sat in silence near the foyer door
Windows dark boarded up I’d never noticed before
I heard something walking along
Dragging its leg it was wrong
Gears falling one by one, it looked so wrong
There’s a place for you tomorrow
When your gears have all run smooth
Automatons go hide their sorrow
At the Grand Guignol Hotel at the Grand Guignol Hotel
Every night I’d sit and watch as they’d go in
End of time when they’d run down death could begin
I found looking at them was hard
As they entered the dying graveyard
Broken down and practically scarred, is this their reward
There’s a place for you tomorrow
When your gears have all run smooth
Automatons go hide their sorrow
At the Grand Guignol Hotel at the Grand Guignol Hotel
There was nothing that I could do
They marched one by one and two by two
They were old in disrepair
Inside I hoped nirvana was waiting there
There’s a place for you tomorrow
When your gears have all run smooth
Automatons go hide their sorrow
At the Grand Guignol Hotel X 3
We Launched Our Rocket (Richard Ryall )
When the bastards laughed at us and called us stupid
When they said that we would die in the attempt
We forced our anger into something
Something that would show them our contempt
We said that we would land upon the moon
Our rocket ship would leave that afternoon
The Tesla coils were charged and full ignited
The gravity of earth is what we fighted
We launched our rocket woah we launched our rocket
With smoke and steam we travelled through the sky
The roar enormous woah the roar enormous
With rivits lost we said our last goodbye.
When we reached orbit and levelled off
Folks down below, we felt cutoff
Out of the windows we view Earths shiny sea
We settled down and had a cup of tea.
Congratulations was passed round the ship
How good are we I heard the Captain quip
We now are famous how could we be forgot
In our grand spaceship the Titanic dreadnought
We made good headway the moon was just ahead
Make plans for landing thats what the Captain said
We are the first men to leave our world
Think of the stories that will be told
Then all at once.....the gauges said
There could be something...not far ahead
We couldn’t see....how could we know
What a rock the size of us it could bestow
In a blind panic we turned the ship to fast
And our engine full of steam let out a gasp
Our flywheel cog the teeth were fully stripped
That was the end of our Titanic ship
Gaslight Man (Richard Ryall)
Gaslight man he walks around the streets
Lighting for the people on his London beat
Ah Gaslight man on the cobblestones he walks
But no-one ever sees him and no-one talks
Even when its raining he doesn’t miss a street
For he lights above the lovers on their lovers seat
Gaslight man sees things he should not see
For he comes across so quiet and lonely
Gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man
Gaslight man his life spent in the dark
Doing job and duty in Regents park
Gaslight man, with the pittance that he gets
Tries to save a penny to pay his debts
In the morning, he goes to get some food
He pulls out half a shilling things are looking good
The chimney sweeps they wave to him as they go off to work
A doff of the cap to say hello and a little friendly smirk
Gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man
Then one night in an alleyway when he brought out his light
The old brick walls reflected the eerie sight
For not three yards away from him he saw her lying there
Clothes askew and motionless and messed up hair
Alas for him he didn’t see a shadow just behind
And his life he had a second ago declined
Eventually the coppers came but did not get involved
They put his life in a cardboard box unsolved
Gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man
Gaslight man, gaslight man, gaslight man,

Harbottle Grimstone (Richard Ryall)
When you coming back home for tea, you’re missed a lot by your family
The life you lead is so bizarre, exploring deepest Africa
The Royal Academy, said you filed for bankcruptcy
With no money for you to explore, what on Earth are you waiting for
But we wait, and we wait, and we live with your mistake
And we listen, for any word, just one word
Harbottle Grimstone, a man of courage and destiny
Explorerer all, over six feet tall, a giant amongst you and me
Harbottle Grimstone, he needs to find the key
Where did we come from, was it automaton
Did they make us first, or was it reversed
Are they still alive or died inside their homes
Its been ten years since we’ve heard from you
Did the jungle get you or did you carry through
We’ve had no word we’ve had no sign
All you’ve left us is endless time
But we wait, and we wait, and we live with your mistake
And we listen, for any word, just one word
When I was Your Boy (Richard Ryall)
When I was your boy, I could have been anything
You gave me all my thoughts and dreams
You made me feel safe
When I was your boy, I started off innocent
You made me magnificent
Can’t thank you enough
When I was your boy, you showed me what love could mean
You read it from your magazine
You taught me so much
When I was your boy
When I was your boy
You gave me strong arms and legs
You gave me such a pretty head
When I was your boy
When I was your Android, Android, Android, Android
When We Dream Of Steam (Richard Ryall)
When we dream of steam, when we dream of steam
We will enter a golden age, power to command at every stage
Miracles will leave the magic cage, when we dream of steam
When we dream of steam, they’ll be wonders that we’ve never seen
We won’t recognise this place, chance will come to the human race
Man can fly to Outer Space, when we dream of steam
When we dream of steam, our lives will shine and gleam
Children abound without a frown, smiles on faces all around
Wealth will come from out the ground, when we dream of steam
When we dream of steam, science will be king
Flying machines and submarines, robots that sing and talking machines
Science improves all of Natures things, when we dream of steam
When we dream of steam, our world can be anything
Riches will be ours as poverty sours, the streets will be gold but not our souls
They’ll be miles and miles of seas, of factories
And the stars will shine brighter than they’ve ever been
When we dream of steam, when we dream of steam, when we dream of steam.
Ronnoc (10 Thousand Feet Below) Richard Ryall
In the darkest depths of the greatest sea
Centuries old or so its been told Ronnoc he sleeps so easy
No-one ever knows what he does with the lives that he’s taken from
this world and drowned them
All the sailors know if he wants your soul there’s nothing you can do to stop him
And he sleeps, and he waits, for men will make mistakes,
and he opens up his eyes
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
Hunger is coming its angry for a battle on the sea and it wakes him
Ronnoc extends his eight big arms and the water around him is boiling
As he slowly sees the surface the light irritates his eyes
And the creatures above him stop fighting for they know what this sight implies
And he sleeps, and he waits,
for men will make mistakes,
and he opens up his eyes
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
10 thousand feet below, 10 thousand feet below,
Have You Ever Been To War (Richard Ryall)
Have you ever been to war, have you ever been to war
There’s really not much living and certainly no forgiving
Have you ever been to war
Around this island once was laughter, around this island once was love
Now the pirates have been beaten and Ronnoc’s full from eating
Have you ever been to war
Have you sailed the sea in a storm, have you sailed the sea in a storm
No matter what they tell you no calm will ever meet you
The cold can never make you warm
The Watchmaker (Richard Ryall)
In a barely lit workshop on Candle Lane
Worked a craftsman without constrain
For watches were built for the Gentlemans game
Mathew works alone by the windowpane
Oooh X 3
The owner said to him when he retires
That Mathew would inherit all that he desires
That the shop would be his and his alone
But years have gone by and its taking to long
Oooh X 3
Then one night it happened he had an idea
The only way he knew of to make his career
He built a perfect watch with gears made of gold
And took it to the owner who said it can’t be sold
Oooh X 3
The owner scoffed at Mathew and shamed him on the spot
Extravagance is not a virtue or had he forgot
For gold is way to soft and it cannot keep the time
Thats when Mathew first thought of the crime
Oooh X 3
His head started spinning
Nightime was bad dreams
He couldn’t stop thinking of foolish extremes
Its been 4 months since that day and Mathew owns it now
The owner up and died and nobody knows how
There could have been an inkling a twinkling in his eye
But Mathew is the only one, who knows why
Oooh X 4
Say Goodbye To Steampunk (I Don’t Think So!) (Richard Ryall)
We live a generation when things were pure
When all the men and ladies dressed in fine couture
We entertained each other with music of our choice
We praised the word of Steampunk and we praised it with our voice
When times were tough well we held fast, our promise we kept true
By train and sky through wet and dry to bring our message to you
Just say goodbye to rock n roll
Just say goodbye to disco
Just say goodbye your to dub and soul
But say goodbye to Steampunk,I don’t think so
Woah, I don’t think so, Woah, I don’t think so,
Our science may confuse you but if you just pay attention
Victorian garb is our calling card steam powers our best intention
And we can fly in the clear blue sky the airships safe and calm
We can travel far on the great Victoire if we grease the captains palm
Lets start a small and peaceful revolution we’ll fly the flag of steam
And if you follow your lives will be fulfilled, and you can live our dream
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye X 2
By Steam We Travel
The Great Ships Boilers (Richard Ryall)
I work the great ships boilers, its very hard you see
With a shovel on me back and me own steam pack
Its where I want to be
I work on the great ships boilers, we’re called the 33
For we all take turn to watch coal burn
And the wind becomes becomes our sea
And the Captain of this airship, he’s as fine as any can be
He treats us well and as far as I can tell
While we fly the Galallee
He looks down there upon the ground, and navigates the hill
And we can outrun any Naval gun, who tries to make a kill
When we have finished plundering, the Empires pitiful ships
The Captain turns us round for home, and we make speed for it
And us boiler men we shovel hard, and burn the dirty coal
For we know when we come to land, the Captain will give us what we stole
When I’m finally at home and I get to see my son
And he whispers in my ear
That when he grows up, he wants to be a boiler man
Oh a boiler man Ooh Ooh a Boiler man
I work the great ships boilers, its very hard you see
With a shovel on me back and me own steam pack
Its where I want to be
I work on the great ships boilers, we’re called the 33
For we all take turn to watch coal burn
And the wind becomes becomes our sea
I work the great ships boilers, its very hard you see
With a shovel on me back and me own steam pack
Its where I want to be
Made Of Nothing But Dreams ( Richard Ryall)
People define us and history defies us its true its a road that you take
You look on in anguish around you are vanquished deep down you know your
Heart breaks
Almost importantly things are a mystery so it is written its said ooooh
Sometimes you’re ragged and others you handle it so it is written its said
You got out of your bed
I could enter your world but remember you’re told nothing can be what it seems
Plenty of lovers have been in your covers your the maid of nothing but dreams
Don’t be despairing you’ve never stop caring you treat them all equally well
Go to their arms and you’ll touch their sweet charms make pleasure to this body
you sell
Its been such a long time you’ve shared all your lifetime with strangers and fellows
And boys
Some are remembered and some are dismembered and some are only useful as toys
Some have a ring to see some cause you misery some make their jealousy sing
Ooooh
And over the years you have battled their tears each have a memory to bring
oooooh
You’re the maid You’re the maid You’re the maid
Of nothing but dreams X 3
The Great Idea (Richard Ryall)
Wandering about his beach, with the thoughts inside his head
The metal shoreline’s covered with flotsam from what’s ahead
A brief inspection taken but his eyes make a second look
Washed up on the bow is a leathered battered book
And he picks it from the sea
And he opens the pages tenderly
Inside there’s a story he’s never read before
About a man and a monster and their personal war
Then the light goes on inside him his answers are in this book
And he hurried back to his lab for a proper look
Each page is carefully noted he has the great idea
For to build the perfect monster with clockwork gears
He works so feverishly he has all the parts he needs
His plans and blueprints drawn he’s sure he can succeed
He works all day and night lost all sense of time
No more lonely days he can kiss them all goodbye
Professor Harry Worth
Greatest inventor ever on Earth
If anyone could do it, it was he
But failure after failure couldn’t find the key
He was personally exhausted but he had that great idea
The end was getting closer that became quite clear
The mechanics came too easily but the life spark wouldn’t show
He needed something special to make it grow
Oh no
He’d work all day and he’d work all night
He’d work all day and he’d work all night
Oh no
Clockwork Girl (Richard Ryall)
I can remember your face on the pillow last night
I remember your brass shone bright reflecting the pale moonlight
And I looked in your eyes and I knew they weren’t real
But it didn’t change the way that I feel I crafted them with skill
And your clockwork heart, couldn’t come apart, couldn’t ever start
But its love X 3
I thought that I could build you and make you come true
As a watchmaker its something I knew but soon the plans I outgrew
Night after night when I added your coils and your springs
I waited for love in the wings to see what tomorrow would bring
As I worked away, in the cold of day, humankind I betray
But its love X 3
But I couldn’t forgive, when I failed to make you live
There could be no more what if, I’ve let us down
More parts I need, if I want to succeed,
And if I have to bleed, to make you come around
To make you come around, to make you come around.
Professor Harry Worth ( Richard Ryall)
Professsor Worth he works all night the only light is a dim gaslight
He’s changed his plans so many times cogs and gears are all cleaned of grime
Checks the springs and adjusts the piston rings
Winds her heart from the start attches the very last part and the wiring
Harry Worth he’s gone and done gone and built an automaton
And he’s called her Angeline she is the clockwork of his dreams
And through all his previous tries he’s made a girl with sparkling eyes
But she’s silent as the night and he can never ever make it right
And he is tired so very tired this is the fourth time he has tried
He rests his head upon his bench and dreams the dreams of a man content
When he wakes he checks the plans for any mistakes
But it all seems so fine he’s gonna wind her up this time this time
Harry Worth he’s gone and done gone and built an automaton
And he’s called her Angeline she is the clockwork of his dreams
And through all his previous tries he’s made a girl with sparkling eyes
But she’s silent as the night and he can never ever make it right
When her eyes were finally opened and she turned her head to view
Deep inside he could see nothing
But his clockwork girl she has come true so now its up to you
Harry Worth he’s gone and done gone and built an automaton
And he’s called her Angeline she is the clockwork of his dreams
And through all his previous tries he’s made a girl with sparkling eyes
But she’s silent as the night and he can never ever make it right
Miss Angeline (copyright Richard Ryall)
Miss Angeline, you drive me crazy
Oh Miss Angeline, I don’t mean maybe
Oh Miss Angeline, won’t you be my baby
Come and walk with me
I’ll take you where the sun always shines
And where the rain won’t fall
I‘ll treat you as my steampunk girl
And I’ll be your Parsaval
You’ll have no worries, well I’ll see to that
Our life will be a dance
I’ll take you flying I’ll take you up high
In an airship full of chance
And if our times get hard my dear
I’ll never let you go
And if you think that I don’t love you
I’ll let you know
Sky Pirates (Richard Ryall)
Travelling across this world, plundering on our lips
We’re seeking wealth and fortune and any lonely ships
The crew are steadfast tough and true there isn’t any doubt
That when there’s fighting needed we can let the tigers out
There’s Gold, there’s jewels we can taste them in the air
You can hide them if you like but we can always find them there
There’s drinking, there’s singing sometimes a little love
There’s nothing in this great big world that we’re unworthy of
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
And none of us are bad men we’re just the diplomatic corps
Don’t ever think of crossing us we know how that would end
You shouldn’t end up thinking you can ever be a friend
There’s no-one in this continent more powerful than us
You have to take my word on it you have to take my trust
Searching, searching our navigator knows
There’s tingling on his neck hairs and dancing twixt his toes
Out there, out there we steer ourselves far north
Every single lookout is scanning back and forth
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
And none of us are bad men we’re just the diplomatic corps
In the clouds its oh so quiet our engines the only noise
And if you hear our airship, your home we will destroy
And we are never mean and cruel our best we always try
Nah don’t ever listen to me for I always tell a lie
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
We’re just the sky pirates sky pirates looking for war
And none of us are bad men we’re just the diplomatic corps X3
Circus Of Lost Souls (Richard Ryall)
Circus of lost souls, where people go, and freaks enrol
Circus of lost souls, where your heart is saved, bad deeds forgave
All are welcomed in, free from all sin, in here to begin
Time goes slow, this is where you have to go, so stay
Here we are in space, in no mans land, no mans land
Sit down and take tea, we’ll talk about, how peaceful things could be
In love, you’ll find it here inside, welcome home
Under the pale gaslight, where insects fight, and die tonight
Stories become whole, circus of lost souls, nice to see you home
We missed you well, there are things you need to tell, inside.
